Master Wang Huo's Thunder Secret Doctrine

道法会元卷之七十七 道者，具乎天地之先，混混沌沌，无形无名。法者，出乎天地之后，亘古今而神通变化. 人者，生乎天地之间，禀天一之气而为万物之灵. 故以吾言之，清明澄彻者 运而行之，则足以通天地，感鬼神，调阴阳，赞化育. 等上语之，即丹成道备，朝昆仑，薄蓬莱，亦不难矣. 盖天地一身，一身天地也. 其大丹法本不外乎此. 失不 治其本而欲理其末者，未之有也. 去圣逾远，谈道者多曲学旁门，乱真者众，后之学者无所参究. 非缘后生福浅，亦由恩情爱欲，一念恋着，心境不清，是非之胶 扰，亦不知千经万论以求道要安在，则其去道愈远矣. 或有苦心学行持而不见功者，非道负人，皆奉道之士不从明师，而所受非法. 或依法行持而不见功者，皆奉道 之士不遵戒律，而学法不验. 有志于此者，苟能清心寡欲，以明道要，以悟玄机，犹当广求师资，勤行修鍊，依法行持，何患法之不验哉. 故天坛玉格云：不行修 鍊，将不附身. 不漱华池. 形还灭坏. 火师又曰：凡受五雷大法，非上品仙官之职，不能悟此玄机. 内则修鍊自己还丹，故外则馘邪治病. 至人所述，非可诬也. 是 知非学法之为难，而澄心修鍊之为难，而得遇道之尤难也. 余以夙幸，得奉冲科，编参诸方，未尽其要. 迂道过罗浮，访道于祖师翠虚真人，袖中出示此篇：可将云 房急写，明日送来. 念汝一生希道之心诚，慕道之志切. 余遂写毕，归此于祖师之前，勤而翫诵. 乃至汪真君以七十二句显述于其前，朱先生以万言发明于其后. 凝 神默想，超悟玄微. 正所谓蕉花春风之机，梧桐秋雨之妙，碧潭夜月，青山暮云，微妙深玄，灿然明白. 惟二宗师以方便心，流传后学，以慈悯心，救度群品. 使后 学之士，得而翫之，自有悟入. 如云开月皎，尘净鉴明，包诸幻而归真，总万法而归一. 三元循于内，而神自朝元. 依此而行，精思不怠，乘白云而归故里，端从此 始矣. 上清大洞宝籙南岳先生赤帝真人五雷副使知北极驱邪院事海琼白玉蟾序.   火师汪真君雷霆奥旨 冲虚通妙先生王文卿俊传 上清三景法师朱执中惟一注 昔日弃儒学庄老，坐断祝融九春草 真君姓汪，讳子华，字时美. 于唐玄宗开元二年甲寅岁，降生于蔡州汝阳县. 七岁能诵诗书，九岁通诸经大义，十三岁知天文地理之学，无不贯通. 自谓取功名如拾 芥. 追至年登四十，累入选场，三举不第，遂叹曰：年逾强仕不登仕版，何面目见知识朋友乎. 于是弃儒笔砚，学老庄之道，求长生之术，不求仕进于世间，而纯念 希仙于帝乡矣. 遂与颜真卿同师白云先生张约，再师赤城司马先生承桢，受清静之道. 遇禄山之乱，弃家云游，参访道要于诸方. 路经南岳，见峰峦耸拔，遂深入祝 融峰下，结庵修道，九年不下山. 勤苦精修，栖神遐远矣. 颜真卿后亦得道. 为卢杞所陷，奉使淮西，为李希烈所缢，遂藁葬于蔡州. 事定后，其子孙寻其墓迁葬 焉，见真卿之尸如生，人皆以为尸解云. 真君得道飞升之后，亦接引颜真卿居雷部，亦真君之力云. 忽朝一日遇元君，授我清虚无上道 真君于祝融峰结庵修道，已历九年. 于宝应元年壬寅七月中元，紫虚元君幸南岳，考校生死，见其君勤苦精修，下降其庵，授以道要. 是时真君四十九岁. 内经云： 至道渺冥，人不易知. 大法混合，人难造域. 是以圣人将奥妙藏于经典，引物寓言，无非欲度其迷. 董道者，法之体，法者，道之用. 体用兼全，二者同一. 致令行 之者于章奏则视之于虚无，于存想则视之为妄幻，故符水之效或迟或速，而鬼神之状半隐半显，与古人驱役鬼神，呼召雷雨者，岂可同日而语哉. 抑传之不妙乎，抑 修之不至乎，抑信之不笃乎. 正一真人有云：人能六根清净，方寸澄彻，久而行之，可以坐役鬼神，呼召风雨. 只将此语细而味之，何符水之不灵，何鬼神之不显. 今学法之士，不本乎道，不祖乎心，而以阶衔法职为美观，又以诸阶法书为多览，譬如万弩射一鹄也. 行法之士，贵乎凝神. 今者美观多览为炫耀，则神气散矣，曾 不若未行法者灵验之速哉. 况又东参西究，不能无疑，朝作暮辍，岂能常应. 今但专佩一籙，专受一职，专行一法，专判一司，行移文牒，专一咒一符，无往而不 一. 所以云：得一可以毕万. 何患行法之不如古人. 若能如是，非惟行法，已是契乎大道矣. 修持再历四七春，六贼三尸如电扫. 身轻体健绿毛生，至此绝无饥渴恼 先圣仰观天文，俯察地理，近取诸身，远取诸物，立为大道. 以长生不死之意，以淑人心. 其实道之与法，贯通一理. 其始也，在乎阴阳五行，其终也归乎无极. 后 宗师再立一说，各执一见，所以众楚不可以齐. 要在吾所遇所传如何耳. 圣人故曰：采之药物，鍊以火候，结以成丹，超凡入圣. 所以取之内象之外而不求于外，所 以无物无象者也. 谓之先天一气，混元之精，则是大而不可知之之谓神之意也. 其体或聚或散，如轻烟薄雾然也. 其象或有或无，如梦想泡影者也. 天地与我同根， 万物与我同体. 往来今古，本无成坏. 第以生死流转，情识起灭，如浮云之点太清，如黑云之荡大海. 圣人悯世浇漓，诏人修鍊，使从无入有，谓之成，以有归无， 谓之了. 其运用之要，有动之动，出于不动，有为之为，出于无为. 不过鍊精成气，鍊气成神，鍊神合道而已. 若有作用似无作用，归于静定，如龙养珠，如鸡抱 卵，可以无心得，不用有心求，可以用心守，不可有心为. 真君得此道要，再修持二十八年，丹成道备，阴阳升降，水火既济，三尸六贼俱屏迹远遁，身体皆生绿 毛，而四大轻健，服元气而腹不饥，咽真液而口不渴也. 贞元五年月建寅，玉皇有敕赐飞升. 瑶池沐浴锡宴罢，位证火师居雷霆 真君年七十有七，丹成道备，于贞元五年己巳岁正月七日. 奉玉帝诏，赐真君飞升于祝融峰下. 世人但见祥云瑞雾，弥满山谷，可远望而不可亲. 南岳诸山，异香芬 馥，七日不散. 人皆见此异香真景不可诬. 真君之上升也，瑶池沐浴既罢，蒙上帝赐以位号雷霆火师之称. 夫火者，太阳为真火，居雷霆为阳火，居六丁为阴火. 在 世间者，只此三火. 人身亦有三火焉：曰君火，曰相火，曰民火. 夫民火上升，取肾火而生真水；肾水上升，交心液而生真气. 心火既旺，百脉流通. 小则降魔除 病，大则鍊质烧丹. 用周天则火起焚身，勒阳关则还元鍊药. 别九州之势，以养阳神，烧三尸之累，以除阴鬼. 上行一撞三When closed, the descent wears away the seven *po* souls. Refining essence into *qi*, one ascends lightly as if flying; refining *qi* into spirit, one sheds the mortal womb like a cicada its shell—all are the work of this Fire. That the True Lord attained this shortcut and resides in the Fire Department is fitting. At that time, Yuanjun attained the true oral secrets, but lamented that in later generations there would be no one to pass them down. Therefore, revealing the inner principles to manifest the true mysteries, she inevitably, at times, leaked the profound esoteric truths. With a mind of expedience, the True Lord passed it down to future scholars, and with a heart of compassion, he rescued the multitudes. Thus, he took the wondrous Dao and spiritual texts transmitted by Yuanjun at that time, and composed them into these sung formulas, revealing all the profound mysteries, clearly laying out the essentials of the Dao, and teaching with earnest instruction. As for the supreme laws of the Great Dao, if one encounters the right person and does not transmit it, the Heavenly Treasure is lost; if one transmits it to the wrong person, the Heavenly Treasure is leaked. Searching to the ends of the earth and finding no one, it cannot be lightly leaked, lest one face heavenly punishment. Deeply concerned that the supreme Dao would go untransmitted and the great laws be buried in oblivion, he therefore composed these profound mechanisms and esoteric principles, intending to enlighten this world and instruct future scholars. Profound mechanisms once again leak the true secrets, so that future scholars may be spared from doubts. Master Zhengyang says: The four elements and the entire body all belong to Yin; one does not know where the Yang essence is born. One can only seek it within the body, specifically looking for that single point of Yang essence within the body. However, this Yang essence resides within a single aperture in the body, which man cannot guess or fathom. The *Neijing* says: "The primal essence of the Heavenly Valley, guard it and it will naturally be true." This means that above, man has the Heavenly Valley, the Niwan, which is the repository of the spirit. The primal palace of the Heavenly Valley is the chamber of the primal spirit, where the spiritual nature resides; this is the essence of the spirit. Sages fathomed the essentials of heaven and earth, knowing the source of transformations. The spirit guards the Mysterious Palace, and the *qi* rises to the Pinula Palace. Spirit and *qi* interact and resonate, naturally achieving truth. Therefore it is said: "The Valley Spirit never dies; this is called the Mysterious Female." It is neither the heart nor the kidney, neither the mouth nor the nose, neither the spleen nor the kidneys, neither the anal canal, nor the bladder, nor the Dantian, nor the Niwan. The *Huangting Jing* says: "In front is the Gate of Life, behind is the Secret Door." Before the infant is born, it already has the placenta and umbilicus. When the child is in the mother's womb, it draws breath from the umbilicus; thus, when the mother exhales, it exhales, and when the mother inhales, it inhales. Food, drink, and flavors enter through this, directly opposite the Secret Door. As for the so-called Mysterious Female, people of the world do not investigate its root or trace its source, but simply consider the nose as the Mysterious and the mouth as the Female, or the mouth and nose as the Mysterious Female. How then should the Gate of the Mysterious Female be named? It is like a blacksmith's bellows: the Mysterious Palace is the upper aperture in the bellows that draws the wind and crushes the hair; the Pinula Palace is the lower aperture in the bellows where the iron rod is pulled to draw the wind. Looking at it this way, it becomes clear. People of the world do not recognize the root and stalk, but only seek branches and pluck leaves, misleading later generations, causing the Dao and its methods to become increasingly doubted and degraded, with heterodoxies arising simultaneously, greatly losing the original intent of the past masters. Therefore, the True Lord taught earnestly, causing later generations to open their minds and achieve understanding, free from doubts, and the profound mechanism of the single aperture of the preheaven was fully revealed. Clear the mind, sit quietly, and achieve non-action. First rub the kidney *shu* points up to the Hua Chi. Next, rub the Yongquan points to descend the heart fire. Hold and pull the Dantian, shifting left and right. Entering the Dao through methods is therefore not difficult; seeking immortality through the Dao is also very easy. The reason it is not difficult is that those who study the Dao do not study it correctly. The reason it is very easy is that they seek methods untruly. People of the past could hide their forms and change their faces, retain their forms and return their souls. Their incantation said: "Blades and poison are expelled, nails and spikes fall away on their own. Walk on fire without burning, make water flow backward, turn back the wind and reverse the rain. Tie a kerchief, throw it to the ground, and walk backward; attach needles to a belt and crawl on the ground. Melons and fruits bear fruit in an instant; dragons and fish roam in a moment." Such things are all arts and calculations, not the true Dharma. Therefore, when the Yang energy is born at the Winter Solstice, one sits upright with crossed legs in a quiet room, closes the eyes like lowered blinds, stills the mind and stabilizes the breath, holds the *qi*, and presses the tongue against the upper palate. First, with hands behind the back, rub the waist eyes, which are the kidney *shu* points, a dozen times or so, to descend the heart fire. When the spiritual water rises, sweet and fragrant saliva will well up in the mouth; when the heart fire descends, the whole body will be warm, and both feet will feel like hot soup. Then, use the left hand to hold the external kidneys, inhale clear *qi* through the nose, and send the heart fire down to the Dantian. Next, rub the area below the navel 81 times with the left hand, changing hands to rub three times on each side. Then visualize a blazing fire wheel below the navel, feel the Dantian fire blazing, the true *qi* filling abundantly, the complexion becoming exceptional, and the physical form solidifying. If practiced for a long time, internally it can eliminate a hundred illnesses, and externally it can purify demons and monsters. This is using arts to recognize the Dharma, and through the Dharma to know the Dao. Past sages all said: "Water rises and fire descends," but they were unwilling to clearly state the details. And people of the world also do not know the essential pathways: where the water rises from, and where the fire descends to. Practicing blindly, how can the Dao and its methods be achieved? One must rely on this for the ascent and descent to have a standard. This is also a side-door art, transmitted to make future scholars understand the pathways of water and fire. If practiced for a long time, it will naturally become proficient. In quiet sitting and visualization, without waiting for rubbing, water and fire will naturally ascend and descend. It is like a snare used to catch a rabbit; once the rabbit is caught, the snare is forgotten; or a fish trap used to catch fish; once the fish is caught, the trap is forgotten. This is what is meant. Visualize with the eyes, hold in the mind, and recite the true incantation. Hold the Thunder Mudra in hand without delay. Transform the spirit and summon the generals as of old. Void-draw the talisman mandate down to the Dantian foundation. The ancients saw the Dao and it remained within them; they understood before a word was spoken. This is because within myself I am already a flawless piece of uncarved jade, only seeking a skilled artisan to set its price. If one is aimless and without a system, lost and without basis, attending upon Master Huang in the morning and Master Li in the evening, studying the Dao this year and studying methods the next, diligent today and idle tomorrow—if one seeks the truth in this way, it is exactly what is meant by "not eliminating one's own falseness, yet seeking truth elsewhere." Take the word "Faith" as the stairway to entering the Dao, the word "Diligence" as the foundation of entering the Dao, the word "Non-action" to respond to things, and the word "Presence" to凝聚 the spirit. A person's spirit and mind converge in the eyes. When one practices, one must first visualize the attire of the generals and officers. Once the mind holds the visualization, the spirit merges with one's own body. Next, pinch the mudra and recite the incantation, and the generals and officers will all descend. The method of transforming the spirit: first, fly a Big Dipper mudra to cover the body. Next, pinch the spirit-transformation mudra, visualizing one's body turning into dead wood. Inhale a breath of green *qi* from the East, blow it onto the body, and then inhale three breaths of fire *qi* from the South, mixing them in the Dantian. With both hands holding the Thunder Mudra, rub the abdomen three circles to the left. Visualize the true fire of the Dantian, the kidney water and heart fire, rotating from the five organs, and draw it out to the forehead with the Thunder Mudra. Next, use the left hand to flick the Li pattern, exhale a "He" breath, and emit fire to burn everything to ashes. Then pinch the Ji-Xun pattern, raise the Xun wind, and visualize it blowing from the southeast to scatter the ashes. In the midst of it is a point of firelight, gradually growing as large as a round mirror, and see your own single true spiritual nature within the mirror's light. Inhale a breath of golden light *qi*, blow it onto the body, and gradually grow larger, with four beasts emerging to surround you. Then transform the spirit and recite the incantation: The Five Thunder Spirit Generals transform into a thousand true forms. I command my disciple to merge with the true form. The Supreme Lord personally transmitted it orally, teaching me to generate another body outside my body. With both hands, fly the Yin-Yang Dipper, flying it out above the forehead to cover the body. Also visualize a talisman envoy emerging from the golden light of the Heavenly Gate, holding a golden tablet inscribed with seven golden characters: "Yu Tai Yu Zhen)○ Ling (Yu Guang Yu Yin Yu Kuan Yu Fu," radiating ten thousand rays of brilliant light. With the left hand forming the golden tablet mudra, hold it up before your own forehead, and recite the "Essence Pouring Li Fire Command" incantation. Visualize within the golden light a figure with a human head and a snake's body descending from heaven, entering directly into your own body and wrapping around it. Then visualize that your body is the Great Celestial Emperor. Next, summon the envoy, recite the "Beheading and Judging Thunder Duke Incantation" and the "Yuqing Command Incantation," pinch the mudras, and then recite the titles of the Five Thunder Envoys and the Thunder Duke Incantation. The brilliance of the Five Stars shines down from above, illuminating the five organs like lapis lazuli. The Five Stars Method says: The method of Taiyi True Man summoning the Five Stars to illuminate the cavities. First, visualize the Five Stars in the five directions of the sky, like chariot wheels, their brilliance shining down upon the person. Then see the Water Star of the North descending black light into the Imperial Village, the Mysterious Palace, entering directly one inch and three tenths into the navel. The Fire Star of the South descends red-gold light *qi* into the Jade Gate Flower Chamber, one inch and five tenths within the hairline. The Metal Star of the West descends white light *qi* into the Jade Pendant Purple Tower, behind the left and right eyes. The Wood Star of the East descends blue-gold light *qi* into the Abyss Gate Pearl Platform, behind the left and right ears. The Earth Star of the Center descends yellow-gold light *qi* into the Golden Chamber Long Valley, below the nose in the philtrum. Once completed, click the teeth three times, swallow saliva three times, and recite the "High Origin Purple Tower Incantation." After the incantation, see the starlight entering directly from each palace, inhale the *qi* and swallow the saliva, sending it down into the five organs. See the five-colored light *qi* of the five organs rushing upward, intersecting with the starlight, shining brightly like five-colored lapis lazuli. Recite the "Five Stars Opening Incantation" and the "Red Crow Incantation." After reciting, flick a Dipper mudra straight to open the Xun Gate. Visualize the Thunder Command Envoy emerging from the Xun Palace, quickly inhale it into the heart, and recite the three-section incantation again. Once finished, circulate the light and inhale it into the heart. Visualize the Thunder Command Envoy returning to the Dantian, merging with the kidney *qi* to rise, and blowing it out upon the incense smoke, transforming into a small sudden fire form, holding five-direction flags, clearly as if facing you. Recite the "Heaven Clear Earth Calm Incantation," and after finishing, state the intention of the matter. If performing the mixing refinement, press the tongue to the upper palate, void-draw the envoy talisman, and after completing the method's application, fiercely inhale a breath of clear *qi*, mix it with saliva, and send it down to the Dantian. Then recite the "Supreme Talisman Mandate Descending to the Yellow Court Incantation," visualizing the envoy going straight down to the Dantian and entering the five organs. Then recite the general incantation of the primary and secondary commanders' pivot and the two platforms. Gather all the Dipper *qi* within the abdomen. Take Jielin on the right and Yuyi on the left. Month by month, Xu is always added; hour by hour, Pojun is seen. The position ahead of Tiangang, I vow never to transmit to anyone. For example, at the Wu hour on the fifth day of the fifth month, the monthly establishment is in Wu. Add Xu to Wu and proceed clockwise, counting to Yin where Wu is seen. Seeing Tiangang sitting on the Ghost Gate, take the *qi* from the central palace. Thus the *Yushu Jing* says: "The twelve gates of the Thunder City all follow the direction pointed to by Tiangang. When the Dipper Star points to Chou, its body is in Wei; what it points to is auspicious, where it resides is inauspicious." Now, taking the *qi* of the Shen palace means taking its killing *qi*. Whenever taking the Dipper *qi*, visualize Tiangang with three heads and nine eyes, the eyes emitting nine-colored light *qi*. The left hand holds the Dipper mudra, the right hand holds the sword, fire blazing on the sword, wearing a white goose flower robe, with wind ribbons and bare feet. Visualize this clearly, recite the Heavenly Emperor Shidi Incantation, inhale through the nose and mouth the light *qi* from the Heavenly Eye, and silently recite: "○ Tian ○ Gang ○ Chua ○ Inhale ○ Seize ○ Chua ○ Inhale ○ Tian ○ Gang ○ Seize ○ Merge ○ Bright ○ Tian ○ Di ○ Ri." After the incantation, exhale the *qi*, exhaling the *qi* of the original direction and time. Next, take the Sun *qi*, recite the Sun Soul Incantation, and upon completion, visualize Tai...Yang takes a round form and square vision, with purple light of nine rays, descending to the left eye, turning right nine times, and inhaling it through the nose. Next, take the Qi of Great Yin, recite the Moon Soul Incantation, and upon finishing, visualize the Great Yin taking a square form and round vision, with white light of ten rays, descending to the right eye, turning left ten times and inhaling it through the nose. Both are emitted through their respective original palaces, original Qi, and original characters. As for the two luminaries of the Big Dipper, if one inhales Qi after the full moon, it is considered to exhaust the subtlety of the art. It is like a person sharing a lamp to find fire; one must borrow firewood and candles. Now, if one directly inhales it face-to-face, is that acceptable? Moreover, the three luminaries shine in the sky but are not of the same kind. To seek the Sun, there are the twenty-four characters of Yu Yi to achieve the penetration of the yellow vision; for the Moon, there are the twenty-four characters of Jie Lin to summon the flying roots of the stone vision. To gather the Qi of the Dipper, use ○Kui○○○○Bi○○Biao, and use these seven characters to summon the Dipper's light, drawing it from the Great Void, just like using a square mirror and a yang-sui (burning glass) to obtain water and fire. If one can know this Dao, one can sit and bring bright clouds within the harmonious Qi, so why bother being constrained by calculations of degrees and divisions in the vast distance? The Eastern azure radiance is like emerald fungus, on the left the demon Jiang responds to the spring season The Eastern azure radiance is Wood. Its color is azure, it corresponds to spring, and it is stored in the liver. Located within the left ribs, there is the demon bright spirit Jiang Ganglun, who is one of the two pivot generals of the East. Recite the Eastern Thunder Spirit Incantation to summon them. Visualize the two generals rising from the liver on azure Qi up to the Thunder City. After inspecting the troops, they ascend into the Divine Empyrean Palace, face the True King, and upon finishing, directly descend to the Yellow Court to merge. Silently recite: ○Om○Va○Lu○Ni○Ti○Sa○Po○He. The Southern red Qi is born in Li, ascending to operate the fierce Bi, residing in the red steps The Southern red Qi is Fire. Its color is red, it corresponds to summer, and it is stored in the heart. Located within the upper body, there is the fierce slaying spirit Bi Xixian, who is one of the two pivot generals of the South. Recite the Southern Thunder Spirit Incantation to summon them. Visualize the two commanders rising from the heart on red Qi up to the Thunder City. After inspecting the troops, they ascend into the Divine Empyrean Palace to face the True King, and upon finishing, directly descend to the Yellow Court to merge. Silently recite: ○Om Yin○Ca○Na○Luo Li Sa○Po○He.   The Western white Qi is like congealed fat, on the right born He Hua meets the autumn season The Western white Qi is Metal. Its color is white, it corresponds to autumn, and it is stored in the lungs. Located within the right ribs, there is the fierce spirit Hua Wentong, who is one of the two pivot generals of the West. Recite the Western Thunder Spirit Incantation to summon them. Visualize the two commanders rising from the lungs on white clouds up to the Thunder City. After inspecting the troops, they ascend into the Divine Empyrean Palace to face the True King, and upon finishing, directly descend to the Yellow Court to merge. Silently recite: ○Om Mi Wei Ye Sa○Va○He. The Northern black Qi is like cloud obscuration, below there is Kun Thunder entering the spring pool The Northern black Qi is Water. Its color is black, it corresponds to winter, and it is stored in the kidneys. Located within the lower body, there is the gleaming lightning spirit Lei Ya, who is one of the two pivot generals of the North. Recite the Northern Thunder Spirit Incantation to summon them. Visualize the two commanders rising from the kidneys on black clouds up to the Thunder City. After inspecting the troops, they ascend into the Divine Empyrean Palace to face the True King, and upon finishing, directly descend to the Yellow Court to merge. Silently recite: ○Om Qi Fu Ye Sa○Po○He. The center operates yellow clouds carrying E and Chen, the five clouds merge and descend to the Yellow Court The Central yellow Qi is Earth. Its color is yellow, it corresponds to the four seasons, and it is stored in the spleen. Located within the center, there is the roaring spirit Chen Shi, who is one of the two pivot generals of the Center. Recite the Central Thunder Spirit Incantation to summon them. Visualize the two generals rising from the spleen on yellow clouds up to the Thunder City. After inspecting the troops, they ascend into the Divine Empyrean Palace to face the True King, and upon finishing, directly descend to the Yellow Court to merge. Fire overcomes Metal, so the Southern general enters the West. The overcoming generals follow this as the rule. For example, on an Yichou day, the Nayin belongs to Metal, Metal generates Water, so the Western general enters the North first. Water generates Wood, so the Northern general enters the East. Wood generates Fire, so the Eastern general enters the South. Fire generates Earth, so the Southern general enters the Center. Earth generates Metal, so the Central general enters the West. The generating generals follow this as the rule. Then merge them, recite the incantation of the Blue Emperor's Headband, up to the Saturn as the ultimate. After the incantation, visualize the light of the five stars shining, and the Yin and Yang thunder spirits all enter the heart for inspection. The five clouds are dense like stationed troops, inspecting the troops and gathering generals into the Thunder City Entering the Dao requires regulating the mind as the essential, and refined thinking as the wondrous. Regulating the mind is grasping and controlling; refined thinking is visualization. Those who grasp and control must quickly subdue it whenever a thought arises. Those who practice refined thinking preserve their spirit and visualize their body. Having an object to preserve is called true visualization; having nothing to forcefully preserve is called false visualization. Condensing one spirit causes all spirits to condense; gathering one Qi causes all Qi to gather. Truth and falsehood are originally empty; going against and following are both silent. The three periods are perfectly connected, and one spirit shines brightly. This is the essence of grasping and regulating the mind. When one thought moves, all thoughts arise; when one aperture opens, all nine apertures open. There is no other reason; this is the Dao of using the spirit to control the Qi. The arising and ceasing of thoughts all come from this mind. Now, the Thunder City is merely within the heart. After gathering the thunder spirits, they all enter the heart for inspection. Upon completion, the generals and officers of the five directions each ride the dense clouds like stationed horses and troops. Ascending to the Divine Empyrean to court the Emperor Lord, then merging their forms entirely The Divine Empyrean Palace is governed by the True King, located in the Southeast. Its ministers, masters, envoys, and ministers assist the profound transformation, as the Jade Scripture of Thunder details. Speaking of the human body, this palace is located between the heart and the liver, which is the Gallbladder Palace. The gallbladder has the name of Emerald Abyss Red Well, also called Sweet Spring Jade Pool, storing its essence in three combinations. The reason the gallbladder is attached to the liver is that the liver belongs to Wood, which is the Azure Dragon. Without this water to nourish it, how could it grow? The dragon's nature is prone to anger; when angry, it can destroy mountains and break rocks, which is why the liver governs anger. It is laughable that people today strike the dragon pool but cannot stir their own dragon pool; how could there be a response from the outside? Even if the Supreme Emperor commands it, it cannot be moved. Whenever striking the dragon pool, one must use methods to stimulate the liver Qi, then step the Flying Dragon Water-Gathering Dipper, enter the Dipper to practice according to the law, use the Biao star to point and stimulate the location of the dragon pool, then recite the Dragon Summoning Incantation. Upon finishing, shout: "Dragon Kings of the five directions who bring rain, Dragon Kings of the direct season who bring rain, I now follow the supreme talisman command, pointing to a certain place. Dragon spirits of the pool and cave, swiftly send down heavy rain to relieve the withered and dry, do not delay for a moment." Practicing in this way, there will be nothing that is not effective. The dual gates of the spine enter Kunlun, the white deer holding a flower runs like a cloud. Taking the flower and riding the deer, stepping on clouds away, suddenly the ox cart meets in front This is the method of the Three Flowers Gathering at the Crown and the Five Qi Courting the Origin. After visualizing the spirits, wait for the breath to be evenly regulated. First, roll the tongue back to seal the two apertures at the root of the tongue, hold the breath, and feel the Dan Tian fire blazing. When essence, spirit, and Qi are all gathered, gently ascend up the ribs and abdomen. The five directions' cloud Qi ascends from the Weilv point up to this point, named the Lower Gate. It is very easy to ascend, so an ox cart is used to transport it. Reaching the spine, named the Middle Gate, it is slightly difficult to ascend, so a deer cart is used to transport it. Ascending to the brain, named the Upper Gate, one cannot break through this gate without exertion, and without the great strength of an ox cart, one cannot ascend here. Therefore, it is said: "Taking the flower and riding the deer, stepping on clouds away, suddenly the ox cart meets in front." It is also called the River Cart carrying the righteous Qi, transporting my original Yang. Thus it is said: "Going upstream straight up to Penglai, scattering as sweet springs across the nine realms. From here the Dan Tian is moistened, and yellow sprouts bloom all over the ground." People today perform prayers without this inner cultivation; how can there be a response? At this point, one must have someone guard the door to prevent conflicts and avoid being startled by cats and dogs. Also, place a bench horizontally in front of the seat. Suddenly feeling the true Qi rushing up, the body gradually enlarges, the spirit soars, and one gradually sees buildings, people, mountains, rivers, and plants. Do not recognize them as your own possessions; simply close your eyes and hold your breath, emitting Samadhi fire to burn the body, lest you fall into a demonic realm. Those who practice the methods but have demonic obstacles often fall into this realm. If your hands and feet do not know where they are, quickly press your hands on the bench and remain quiet and still for a while; this true realm will manifest before you. The wondrous aspects cannot be fully expressed in words. When a scholar reaches this point and sees the inner realm, they will know it themselves. The generals and officers of the five directions descend the nine gates, the golden bell and jade chime ring so clearly With the Wood of the Eastern soul, the Metal of the Western soul, the Fire of the Southern wall, the Water of the Northern ford, and the Earth of the central will, this is called gathering the Five Elements. By containing the light of the eyes, condensing the sound of the ears, regulating the breath of the nose, and sealing the Qi of the mouth, this is called harmonizing the Four Symbols. When the eyes do not look, the soul is in the liver; when the ears do not hear, the essence is in the kidneys; when the mouth does not open, the spirit is in the heart; when the nose does not breathe, the soul is in the lungs; when the four limbs do not move, the will is in the spleen. Therefore, it is called the Five Qi Courting the Origin. Transforming essence into Qi, Qi into spirit, and spirit into emptiness, therefore it is called the Three Flowers Gathering at the Crown. The generals and officers of the five directions are the essence, spirit, soul, and will merging together, transforming into one, ascending from the dual gates of the spine straight up to the Niwan Heavenly Gate. The Heavenly Gate has nine layers, thus called the Nine Gates, guarded by all spirits. If one can transport the righteous Qi here, one will hear the sounds of reed pipes, bells, chimes, and strings in the ears. The scholar must quickly close and condense the sounds, lest they also fall into a demonic realm. Entering the Niwan to court the original spirit, which is the innate Golden Gate body Three inches above the left eyebrow is the Mingtang Palace, entering another inch is the Liuzhu Palace, and entering another inch is the Jizhen Palace. From the center of the nose upwards, entering three inches between the eyebrows is the Tianhuang Palace, and entering another inch is the Jade Emperor Palace, which is the Upper Dan Tian. Entering three inches above the right eyebrow is the Xuandan Palace, and another inch is the Dongfang Palace. Therefore, the True Man Zhengyang said: "Yuqing, Shangqing, and Taiqing's Great Origin and Great Substance are the foundation of the Dao's existence and non-existence generating each other to establish the foundation of Heaven and Earth." Speaking of the human body, the Three Purities are the essence, Qi, and spirit of the parents gathering to form the fetus. Essence and blood form the exterior, Qi and spiritThis is it, as within the body, like the clarity and turbidity of Heaven and Earth. By causing the dragon and tiger to copulate, one can form the inner elixir. In three hundred days, essence and qi are generated, and the Yang spirit is refined, initially residing in the realm of the Yellow Court, next dwelling in the Inner Court, and finally emerging beyond the Heavenly Gate. This is what is called the Three Purities. Therefore, Laozi said: "If one does not attend to one's own Three Purities, why labor to look up to the distant and boundless?" Those who today fly petitions to visit the Emperor are merely reading from the script; how can they possess the inner refinement skill to receive a response in an instant? The way of flying petitions to visit the Emperor also does not depart from the Huoluo Gang (Big Dipper Pace). First, one steps to open the Qian Gang to report to the ancestral masters; next, one steps to break the Xun Gang to summon the generals and officers. Once the generals and officers are assembled, one then steps the Huoluo Gang to fly the original spirit, moving the five qi into the Niwan. The path into the Niwan enters via the Yellow and Red Paths. The Yellow and Red Paths are the roads of the Sun and Moon. It lies only in their application; what is meant by the rigid wind and vast qi? If one's own breath cannot be closed, how can one subdue the rigid wind and vast qi from the outside? The method of petitioning and pouring the Dipper: beneath the Three Heavens, the stars reside. Thus, the left eye is Tanlang, the right eye is Jumen; the left nostril is Lucun, the right nostril is Wenqu; the left ear is Lianzhen, the right ear is Wuqu; the mouth is Pojun, the tongue is Zuofu, and the throat is Youbi. Therefore, Zuofu and Youbi are the directors of speech and throat; these two spirits are exclusively in charge of submitting reports to the seven-star palaces. Thus, when practicing the method of petitioning the Dipper, one draws the black qi of the North and clashes it with the Gang qi. Close the eyes, settle the qi for a moment, and recite the Dipper Pouring Incantation; then observe whether the external Dipper has cloud qi or not, and how it can be drawn, and whether there is a response of clear or rainy weather. If practitioners of thunder methods do not know this way, how can they manipulate thunder and lightning in their palms and gather wind and clouds before their eyes? Thus, one knows that the original spirit is the body of the Golden Gate. In an instant, the Emperor decrees to entrust it to Taiyi, respectively applying water and fire to refine its spirit. Visualize the generals and officers of the five directions all arriving at the Niwan, having an audience with the Jade Emperor, and being granted a decree character in the Taiyi Palace, which is the Mingtang Palace. Apply the method of refining the spirit with water and fire. Recite the Yinling Yinling Incantation, and with the left hand fly a Southern Dipper to arrange on the ground, transforming it into a fire swamp, and use the Sword Mudra to draw the Li trigram in the center of the Dipper's mouth. Next, arrange five fire characters in the five directions of the Li trigram, reciting: Wind of blue flames in the East, concealing the True Samadhi Fire. Flick out with the Yin mudra. Wind of red flames in the South, concealing the True Samadhi Fire. Flick out with the Mao mudra. Wind of white flames in the West, concealing the True Samadhi Fire. Flick out with the Chen mudra. Wind of black flames in the North, concealing the True Samadhi Fire. Flick out with the Si mudra. Wind of yellow flames in the Center, concealing the True Samadhi Fire. Flick out with the Wu mudra. Visualize the trigram lines glittering like golden light, and the fire qi of the four directions blazing. Then, with the Sword Mudra, trace in the air the eight characters ○ Huan ○ Hui ○ Bing ○ Yao ○ Wei ○ Huang ○ Tuan (Huo Qi), drawing the Southern fire qi, exhale it onto the characters, and silently recite ○ Yu ○ Li ○ Zhen nine times. Then recite the Essence of Yuli Incantation. Upon completion, draw the Yang qi of the left palace and exhale it, visualizing it as the Fire Palace, and shout: I respectfully invite Envoy Zhang to lead the thunder spirits of the five directions' pivot mechanisms and the two bureaus to enter the Palace of Yang Radiance to be refined. Visualize the generals and officers of the five directions each entering the Fire Palace to be refined. Visualize blazing fire filling the sky and earth, radiantly bright. Qi of red cataracts in the South, concealing the True One Water. Flick out with the You mudra. Qi of white obscurity in the West, concealing the True One Water. Flick out with the Xu mudra. Qi of black depths in the North, concealing the True One Water. Flick out with the Hai mudra. Qi of the Golden Mother in the Center, concealing the True One Water. Flick out with the Zi mudra. Visualize the trigram lines as translucent gold, with water qi permeating. Then, with the Sword Mudra, trace in the air the eight characters Shui Xu ○ Hun ○ Ming ○ Xing ○ Hai ○ Wo ○ Sheng Shui Ming, draw the Northern water qi and blow it onto the characters. Visualize water qi misty, filling the sky and earth, deep, clear, and translucent. Recite the Five Great Thunder Spirits, Awesomely Resounding Incantation. Upon completion, next visualize water and fire refining each other, reciting the Southern Flame Incantation and the Juewu Incantation eight times each. Once the application is complete, if one wishes to execute it, arrange the Dipper and step the Gang to stimulate the thunder spirits of the five directions. If it is not the time to execute it, use the Millet Grain Suspended in Air method to gather them back into the body. If executing the flight, use the Emperor's incantation to declare, the Dipper Gang stimulates and commands it to pierce the heavens. If one wishes to pray, the wondrous application lies in the Gang qi stimulating the Dipper's handle, rushing the thunder spirit generals of the five directions into the chamber. Praying for clear weather: Fan away the cloud cover. Praying for rain: Send down sweet rain. Then recite: Thunder spirits, thunder spirits, commanded by the Emperor, humbly serving in Heaven. Ancestors of wind and fire, source of rain and moisture. The Nine Ugly gather, the Six Waves approach the pavilion. Praying for clear weather: Fly the winds swiftly, urgently summon the group of immortals. Praying for rain: Pour out rivers and overturn seas, together summon the Dipper immortals. Descend to aid the Daoist method, the divine seal is natural. Great thunderbolt, quickly arrive before the altar. Jade Clear oral decree. At this point, rise up, visualizing the thunder spirits in the air merging with the thunder spirits of one's own body into one. Visualize the Dipper stars' radiance reflecting down upon the earth. Next, see the Five Planets' radiance illuminating one's own body. Then step the Five-Step Gang: for clear weather use Water, Fire, Metal, Wood, Earth; for rain use Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water. Next, step the second Gang: for clear weather recite Wind, Cloud, Thunder, Lightning, Rain. Then step the third Gang, reciting Heaven, God, Dragon, Water, Earth. After stepping the third Gang, quickly turn around, step the Three Talents Gang, and return into the mouth of the Dipper. After stepping the Gang on the right, turn around and enter the mouth of the Dipper. With both hands form the Thunder Mudra to lift it up, dispatching the Gang Dipper to shoot straight towards the Sound-Transmitting direction. Then recite: "I obey the Emperor's decree, commanding the Five Thunders Incantation." Therefore, the Stepping Gang formula says: The Shaman's steps are many, but Yu's steps are few. Only the five steps can align with the Five Elements; those who practice this for a long time will ascend. Generally, stepping is mostly based on the five steps to deduce the wondrous method of the Five Elements. Next, step wind, cloud, thunder, rain, and lightning to blend them, and afterwards use Heaven, God, Dragon, Water, and Earth to stimulate them. The wonder of stepping the Gang does not exceed this. It is like a dog hunting a snake: advancing five steps, retreating seven steps, until the snake is subdued, and then it harms it. It is just like subduing a mouse, it is the same. The Eight Gates and Dunjia is the way of hiding one's body and concealing one's form. If even animals are like this, how could humans not be? How sad. If not practicing, use the suspended pearl, return to the Heavenly Eye and enter nothingness. The Emperor's decree is transmitted and returns to the five viscera; the millet pearl vigorously enters without remainder. If there is nothing to do each day and one is not executing the refinement of generals, upon completing the refinement of the generals here, recite the Returning Heart Incantation, draw golden light qi to distribute to the generals of the five directions. Upon completion, recite the sutra and incantation, dedicate the merit, and attract the generals of the five directions from the Hundred Flowers Bridge on the tongue. Go straight up to the Niwan to have an audience with the Jade Emperor. Use a finger to write a ○ character, silently reciting the Thunder Cave Wind Cone Incantation, twenty lines, one stroke per line. Visualize the Jade Emperor suspending this Jade character like a millet pearl in the empty void, and all the officers and generals entering into the millet pearl. Fiercely swallow saliva down, returning it to the middle Dantian, and sit quietly for a moment. Then recite the True Returning Thunder Incantation formula: Twelve railings, infinite moon. Also like spring sleep just waking up; how could the wondrous place be understood by others? Next, silently recite the Returning Thunder Incantation and the Returning Soul Incantation, visualizing all the thunder spirit generals and officers returning to nothingness. When a scholar cultivates to this point, wind generates in the Niwan, the moon shines brightly in the Crimson Palace, the fire blazes in the Dantian, the waves of the sea of desire calm, the spine turns like a wheel, the four limbs are heavy as mountains and stones, the pores feel as if just rising from a bath, the bones and veins feel as if soundly asleep, the spirit feels like the joyous union of husband and wife, the soul and spirit feel like the lingering attachment of mother and child; this is the true realm. Refining it with this method, it gathers and does not scatter. Refining it with pounds and ounces, it binds and becomes firmer. The soul is hidden, the spirit is extinguished, essence binds, and spirit condenses. One intent harmoniously penetrates, the skin and flesh become refreshingly clear. Following the days and hours, it gradually condenses and binds, creating substance from no substance, forming the holy embryo. Reaching this wondrous place, how could others come to know and understand it? If the scholar sees a white light like a mirror before their eyes, urgently gather the light, recite the Jade Flower Emperor Son Incantation, and upon completion, conceal the light and hide one's traces. If one can practice according to the Dharma, among ten thousand, there will not be a single failure. The ancients only spoke of refining the generals, without knowing it themselves. Therefore, refining this is all because the thunder methods are profound and difficult to understand. As for the Dao and the Dharma, the two act as the exterior and interior of each other. If a scholar can practice according to these superior methods, there will not be a single failure among ten thousand. Those who attain it must firmly guard it; those who encounter it have karmic ties from past lives.
