Glimpses Through a Feng Shui Telescope (IV)

Six years ago, a family in Shanghai had their residence sitting on Jia facing Geng, leaning toward Mao and You. They reported that after the mother moved into the house, within less than a year she suffered several sudden strokes and remained hospitalized; yet before moving in, she had yearly check-ups that always showed nothing wrong. I examined the interior and exterior of the rooms and asked several questions; there were a few inauspicious spots—some could not be moved, others could not be altered, as the property management would not permit it; what could be changed was quite limited. So I had them open a small door in the Wu direction and suppress the site with a Seventy-Two Dragon talisman; afterward, matters were indeed fine. Yet at the time I told him: within three years you must find a way to sell all the stocks in your hands, or misfortune may follow.

Glimpses Through a Feng Shui Telescope (III)

More than ten years ago, by chance, I once adjusted the stele orientation of a tomb in a southwestern locale. In the mountainous land where it sat, the distant hills had twin peaks joined with a depression between them, and a local practitioner said the tomb must face the tip of the distant peak, never the depression. I replied: if it truly faces the depression, and that shoots toward the cave, how could a mere shift of a hairline in orientation avoid it? The facing mountain is so far away—where would the force to shoot the cave come from? I thus said it must be changed to face this gap, chose an auspicious date for him, and said to first remove the stele; within seven days afterward, there would surely be thunder. Seven days after the stele was removed, thunder indeed sounded; within a few months he was suddenly promoted to deputy secretary of the local municipal party committee—this was the verification of taking up the thunder's force, for the mountain faced east-west, drawing on the Zhen trigram.

A Record of a Burial Site

In a Renchen year, I saw a person seeking to bury someone: the tiger side had a breach and received the year sha, so I remarked lightly that this site could not be used. However, the master he had invited said: “Qi rides the wind and disperses; here the wind blows from the northwest year-round, and this place is not exposed to the wind—it suits storing wind and gathering qi, so it is harmless.” His words seemed reasonable, so the family believed him. Observing the family head’s fate chart as well, it likewise showed punishments and clashes with wife, daughters, grandchildren—I knew it was settled. Years later, this year I learned the family’s situation: several years after the burial, his mother passed away, the third son died young, and his wife contracted a terminal illness. Is this not the response of the tiger side? Yet although one may say a mediocre master harms people, it was also his fate. Moreover, though principles may be grand, there are true and false ones—one must not fail to distinguish them.

A Note on a College Entrance Examination Inquiry

A woman casually asked how her son would fare on this year's college entrance examination. As it was difficult to examine the sitting and facing in detail, I only asked the general direction. Her residence sits north on the first floor; the study faces northeast, within a residential complex; and there was no road to the northeast. From the northeast window of the study one could see outside a pond of water within the complex. I told her that her son studied extremely well, though his health might be somewhat poor, and thus predicted that this year's examination results would surely be excellent. She said this was entirely correct: her son ranked first in his grade, at a key high school. In general, a single body of water faces them, and for a Kan residence the literary star lies in the northeast; water seen to the northeast also indicates clever children — only the slight weakness of the body is regrettable. Moreover, the examination fell in a Xu year; in the Wu month the literary star also lies in the northeast, so he received its qi.

A Case of Erecting a Stele to Invite Auspiciousness: Seeking Sons and Wealth

Seven years ago, returning to Jiangxi to honor the ancestors, I met a man in the village who said his father’s generation had four brothers and five sisters, but by his own generation only four remained—two men and two women—and the next generation had no children at all. His cousin became pregnant but miscarried midway; the others neither conceived nor bore children. Observing the ancestral graves, the water collection was misaligned and the site’s fortune had already passed…
