The Extremely Wealthy Star and the Grain General Star
Present-day writers on shen-sha take the Wei position as the Extremely Wealthy Star and the Grain General Star, and also as the Dragon Virtue of the Four Benefits. This is a grave error. Discussions of the Establishment and Removal system should only be applied on the month level; using them at the year level is wrong. Commonly the Grain General Star is treated as a year star — Wei in a Zi year, Shen in a Chou year — and allocated accordingly; this is another error. The Extremely Wealthy Star and the Grain General should be two different stars. The Grain General should be computed from the Na-Yin of one’s life destiny: starting from the tomb position, establish and seek the Wei position.
The Heavenly Doctor
A disciple once asked about the method of deriving the Heavenly Doctor, saying the books are confused, so I shall sort it out point by point. The common Heavenly Doctor derivation: by year — Zi, Chou, Yin, Mao, Chen, Si, Wu, Wei, Shen, You, Xu, Hai; Heavenly Doctor — Mao, Xu, Zi, Wei, You, Hai, Chen, Yin, Si, Wu, Chou, Shen. This is actually the method of deriving Heavenly Doctor from the traveling year and must not be confused; it should be calculated according to the traveling year, taking the Great Yin of the twelve traveling-year spirits. Thus the traveling-year Heavenly Doctor is: Mao Xu Zi Wei You Hai Chen Yin Si Wu Chou Shen. And according to the daily Heavenly Doctor method: the Heavenly Skill of Fate-Cutting says — first month Mao, second month Pig arrives...
The Exact Location of the Wenchang Position
Today is the third day of the second lunar month, which is also the birthday of the Wenchang Emperor. According to the "Records of the Grand Historian: Treatise on the Celestial Officials": "Carrying the basket of six stars atop the Dipper's bowl is the Wenchang star: first the Supreme General, second the Second General, third the Noble Minister, fourth the Controller of Destinies, fifth the Controller of the Center, sixth the Controller of Emoluments." The six Wenchang stars are respectively Supreme General (mighty and martial), Second General (correcting left and right), Noble Minister (managing literary threads), Controller of Destinies (in charge of disasters), Controller of the Center (in charge of rights), and Controller of Emoluments (rewarding merit and advancing scholars), each with its own office, governing the literary fortune and emolument registers of the world. Again according to the "Classic of Stars": "The six Wenchang stars form a half-moon shape, before the Dipper's bowl; each of the six stars has its own name." Where exactly is the Wenchang position? The Wenchang position as described in ordinary bazi differs somewhat from that in star-astrology.
