Eastern Journey: Kagoshima (8) — The Feng Shui of Onoyado Shrine

Another shrine encountered on the back mountain is a place enshrining thirteen gods, called Onoyado Shrine. According to what we learned, the original shrines appear to have been dismantled and concentrated here.

This site also sits at Zi with secondary Gui, with the water outlet at Kun, water exiting in three folds. Most importantly, a small path runs from the Chen position out to the platform in front of the shrine — clearly this arrangement can make the shrine efficacious.

Ms. Wang told us that a landslide once occurred on the slope behind; when the rock flow slid down toward the back of the shrine it suddenly changed course and flowed elsewhere, causing no harm at all to this small shrine — quite marvelous.

Later Ms. Wang led everyone to a prepared spot — a lawn beside Sengan-en, with an expansive view where both volcano and sea lay before them.

The qi field here is very harmonious and the scenery beautiful, so Ms. Wang also suggested coming early to meditate here. That sounded fascinating, for volcano, sea, and sunrise together must be a distinctive scene.

Unfortunately the next morning's plan was a direct trip to Sakurajima volcano, so such arrangements must wait for another chance.
