Thunderclap Theory

The Dao originates from the Wuji (Limitless) and becomes the Taiji (Supreme Ultimate), its substance being a chaotic, unified Qi. With movement and stillness, Yin and Yang divide; as Yin and Yang operate, the Sun and Moon appear. The Sun, as Yang, governs Heaven; the Moon, as Yin, governs Earth. The Dipper sits at the Central Pole, rotating Yin and Yang, and unifies the Three Celestial Bodies of humanity. Combining the Three Unifications, the Sun and Moon move, Yin and Yang open and close, and Thunder and Lightning erupt. Since Thunder and Lightning began at the initial separation of the Taiji, the images of Heaven, Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, Thunder, Mountains, and Marshes became manifest. Later sages named these eight images the Eight Trigrams, using Qian and Kun as the substance, Yin and Yang as the function, the Sovereign as the Emperor, and changes as the spirits and gods. Thus, Thunder and Lightning are clearly visible to the ears and eyes of humans and heavens, and their name cannot be concealed. Indeed, Thunder and Lightning are the true function of the Great Dao.

Calamities have the omens of Shanghuang, Chiming, and Longhan; Qi has the designations of Xuan, Yuan, and Shi. One is called the Qi of Hundong Taiwu (Chaotic Great Void), the second is the Qi of Chi Hun Taiwu (Red Chaotic Great Void), and the third is the Qi of Mingji Xuantong (Dark Solitary Profound Connection). Some emerge from scriptures to transform titles, others form talismans through cloud-like script. Miraculous transformations cycle, and Daoist laws become manifest. Therefore, Thunder and Lightning are called: first, the Wuji Wu Liang Fan Qi (Limitless Sanskrit Qi); second, the Qing Xu Zhen Huang Qing Qi (Clear Void True Emperor Clear Qi); third, the Xu Hun Xuan Yi Jing Qi (Empty Chaotic Profound One Bright Qi). Thus, Thunder and Lightning are the pivot of creation. There are commanders of 260 divisions and over 90,000 camps. They support the Heavenly Axis above, descend upon the Earthly Ramparts below, exert authority in the Six Directions, shake the sounds of ten thousand heavens, nourish and protect living beings, eliminate the wicked, guard the homeland, and command humans and heavens. Wind and Thunder flow in form, thunder and rain are majestic. They are bright in their presence, dark in their absence. Gathered, they become one Qi; scattered, they become the Five Thunderstorms. Rolled up, they are silent and formless; unrolled, they suddenly appear with image. The Dao operates in the Dharma Realm, its wonder lies in the Spirit Platform. Knowing that Thunder Magic does not lie in deduction, but truly in the profound mystery of a single Qi, we illuminate the Supreme Dao and order this text.

Thunder Belonging to the Three Qi

Wuji Wu Liang Fan Qi Thunder. The Fan Qi Thunder has four branches, with 137 altars of generals and officials, totaling 720 people.

Hundong Dawu Thunder, also known as Dongzhen Thunder Hundong Thunder.

Zhaoyun Thunder, also Qingwei Thunder. Tianbao Thunder, Yuqing Thunder, Yujing Thunder, Hundong Shencheng Thunder, Chi Hun Dawu Thunder, also Dongxuan Thunder.

Yuyu Thunder, also Shenji Thunder. Lingbao Thunder, Shangqing Thunder, Yuchen Thunder, Zifu Shenfang Thunder, Mingji Xuantong Thunder, also Dongshen Thunder.

Why is Thunder Magic so complex? Are the spirits and immortals' commands so profound and wondrous? From childhood to adulthood, I admired the Dao with diligence, resolved without laziness, widely presented words and letters, repeatedly bowed to my teachers. I met the perfect person of Meishan. Thus, I bowed my head and earnestly requested, then bathed in the teacher's blessing, made vows and set up altars, called for Thunder and summoned generals. In a short while, there was movement and response, no different. I was given several volumes of Thunder Books, from the Three Sovereigns above to the roots of eternity below. Talismans and bamboo slips, precious books and琅 books, every word is golden law, every chapter is jade script. The highest grade of Thunder Books, great and small calamity scriptures, still exist in the Great You, the Gaoshang Dayou Yuqing Palace. Only the perfect person can obtain this, how else could they explore it? The middle grade of Thunder Books were all written by the Huangren. The lowest grade of Thunder Books were by the宗师 appearing in the world, selecting immortal scriptures, collecting them into contracts and letters, which can above pray for heavenly blessings and protect the country, and below assist the law and save people. Is this not good? Sometimes there are those who do not bother to consult, just encountering the right time, and say they have obtained the method, or draw pictures and portraits, or spit water to call gods, not distinguishing jade from stone, deaf and blind to the secular world. In this way, the Great Dao's heavenly classics and Thunder's secret manuals would almost cease to exist. Looking at the scriptures and commentaries, I know that Thunder cannot be known by humans without knowing the Heaven of Thunder, and humans cannot know the Heaven's Thunder without Thunder. Alas. Heaven and humans trust each other, and the response is like this. I also heard of the verification of Xu Jingyang and the Five Mausoleums; the perfect person has appeared, and there will surely be those who pull reeds together.
