Shao Yanhe said: In this lesson, Wealth appears as Heavenly Empress (Tianhou), placed on the stem and initiating the use; the wife is the lead, the day goes to the hour, the husband goes to the wife, the wife is the elder and the husband is the younger. However, your wife was originally your elder brother's wife; yet you obtained her. You will only share nine years together. In the eighth year, because of a land dispute involving burial grounds, there will be discord with your brothers; although you gain this land, you will die without being buried there. Presently the lesson indicates the death of the wife, because the mill is blocked at the east gate — hence the worry of remarriage. Shen represents the mill; placed on Mao, it blocks the east gate. Xin takes Mao as wife. The stem again goes to the branch, causing entanglement; above it appears Gou Chen (Hooked Array), which is why. Shen on Mao becomes Sky Kong (Sky Void); Shen is the same kind as today's day, and placed on the wife — this is the brother's wife. Shen of the same kind as siblings, placed on Mao's wife/wealth — this is the brother's wife. Yet it is not placed on its own void; moreover it becomes Sky Void, so the brother must already have passed away, which is why Master Shao dared to say this. If Shen were not void, one could not judge rashly. Only nine years of companionship: Xu on Si, five above and four below, totaling nine. The final Chou is the tomb of Xin metal; Chou earth on Shen metal's long-life is therefore a place of life. Shen is siblings, and Chou's tomb forms Snake — hence discord with siblings; Chou is eight, so eight years. The Straight Point says Chou is Mao's wealth, therefore he gains this land; within it hides the Ding ghost, indicating he gains this land and dies.
Qimen re-divination:
The hour overcomes the day, and the residence offends the person; this residence is inauspicious.
The diviner rides the talisman and so is master of the residence; yet below sits Ji, indicating private desire. In the Kun palace Ji appears as struck by punishment; above rides Dark Warrior (Xuanwu), so there must be obscure and murky matters.
Liu He (Six Harmony) contains Bing, indicating a third-party male; yet Bing and Ren are the same, that is, Bing is Ren. Externally it connects to Ding, so it forms a Ding-Ren union — therefore Ding is his wife, coming from outside.
Moreover Bing is outside the Life Gate; Bing joins with Xin, and the hook obtains Xin in the residence. This Ding is again the same as Xin; between them are Geng and Gui. The void means none; Gui is Ren as siblings. Geng is punished, giving life without qi — so the brother is already dead, and this is a past death.
His wife was originally his sister-in-law — so this becomes clear. What is disclosed here as obscure and murky is precisely because in the Song dynasty "a younger brother taking his widowed sister-in-law" was already forbidden.
And only nine years of companionship: Zhen is void yet meets Li, obtaining the number nine; Ji is immediately struck by punishment.
