Five Paths of Immediate Response Talismans
The five talismans on the right are added after the five envoy talismans, smeared with the secret taboo characters Duan and Ming, and each dispatched with an incantation. Or paste them at the front of the dispatch document, taking the qi of subduing ghosts to add to them. Not a single failure in ten thousand times, extremely divine and marvelous.
Incantation for Stirring Water with a Willow Branch
Heaven has no sea god, Uncle Cang and Mother Tiger. Flowing Yang brings disaster, water metal fire earth. Rain Master and Wind Earl, clouds galloping and thunder drums. Command to move Yuqing, dragon flying at nine-five. Urgently, urgently, in accordance with the statutes and ordinances.
Writing Talismans and Hexagram Qi
Earthly branches belonging to Wood, use the Eastern Zhen hexagram, Yin and Mao days. When writing the hexagram, pinch the day-hour mudra, exhale liver qi nine times.
Earthly branches belonging to Fire, use the Southern Li hexagram, Si and Wu days. When writing the hexagram, pinch the day-hour mudra, exhale heart qi three times.
Earthly branches belonging to Metal, use the Western Dui hexagram, Shen and You days. When writing the hexagram, pinch the day-hour mudra, exhale lung qi seven times.
Earthly branches belonging to Water, use the Northern Kan hexagram, Hai and Zi days. When writing the hexagram, pinch the day-hour mudra, exhale kidney qi five times.
Earthly branches belonging to Earth, use the Central Kun hexagram, Chen, Xu, Chou, and Wei days. When writing the hexagram, pinch the day-hour mudra, exhale spleen qi twelve times.
After writing the hexagram, add the character "mountain" in the center. Before writing the talisman, first use the Yuqing Summoning Talisman to summon the local mountain deity, silently recite the deity's name, and when summoned clearly before your eyes, form the mountain character mudra and write the character "mountain" in the hexagram. The name of the mountain deity is the five earthly commanders Zhang, Xu, Wang, Zhao, and Guan. Also look at the Renyuan (human element) of the day being used, which belongs to a certain star, and write it on top. You must still first write a Renyuan Duty Talisman for the day, pinch the day-hour mudra, visualize the star's form, inhale one breath of qi, and blow it into the talisman.
Eastern Renyuan Daily Duty Talisman
Southern Renyuan Daily Duty Talisman
Western Renyuan Daily Duty Talisman
Northern Renyuan Daily Duty Talisman
The Twenty-Eight Mansions, each mansion is on duty for three days; the remaining eight mansions govern clear and rainy weather. They are dispatched according to the Yuanchen (original destiny). If the Yuanshen (original spirit) is in the East, use the two talismans of Bi and Fang; in the West, use the two talismans of Xin and Mao; in the South, use the two talismans of Wei and Xing; in the North, use the two talismans of Zhang and Xu. When praying for rain, bury the Yang talisman and burn the Yin talisman. When praying for clear weather, bury the Yin talisman and burn the Yang talisman. The sun is Yang, the moon is Yin. For the sun, use cinnabar to write the talisman; for the moon, use ink. To bury the talisman, simply dig one foot and two inches deep under the altar, write it on a tile or stone, and bury it.
○ Bi Moon ○ Xin Moon ○ Zhang Moon ○ Wei Moon Yin
○ Fang Sun ○ Mao Sun ○ Xu Sun ○ Xing Sun Yang
Contract Talisman: paste one half at the head of the dispatch document, and one half at the tail to burn
This contract talisman is modeled after the Jiazi day talisman. If the Heavenly Stem belongs to Wood, use the Eastern Envoy Talisman, write the character "ghost" at the foot of the talisman, write the general's name [Character] at the turning stroke, take the three qi of the Thunder Dipper to cover it above, and let the brush exit in a certain direction according to the matter. On a Jiazi day, the Earthly Branch belongs to Water, use the Kan hexagram, with the character "mountain" inside the hexagram. Before writing the talisman, first use the Yuqing Summoning Talisman to summon the deities of the Five Sacred Mountains, silently summon them, and visualize the mountain deities standing before you clearly as if seen. Form the mountain character mudra and write the character "mountain" in the hexagram, inhale the mountain deities into the talisman, smear it with the Capital Heaven Great Thunder Duke Incantation, and flick the Dipper to cover it. Then write the character "Command" to cover it. On a Jiazi day, the Renyuan Talisman belongs to Kan, the Northern Ox Star, therefore write the Ox Star, recite the full incantation of the essence of Jiao and Ji, pinch the day-hour mudra, take the qi of the day-hour direction to cover it. Here, the Jiazi day is used as a model; according to each day and hour, Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, and the daily duty mansion, write the three talismans, practicing exactly according to this model. Therefore it is called the "Three-Five-One Method".
Determining the Day to Raise Thunder and Bury the Talisman
The talisman on the right is written and buried using a new four-cornered brick smoothed flat. For each star, recite the "Luo Luo Gao Zhang" incantation, smear all four corners, recite the Hunhe incantation, and the Capital Heaven Great Thunder Duke incantation, all smeared with ink until it turns black, regardless of the number of times. Visualize black clouds spreading densely, then take the golden light qi to cover and secure it. Write the Envoy Zhang Talisman on the outside, holding the previous talisman directly to the Heavenly Palace, to summon and raise the thunder. Then recite the Summoning Thunder and Beheading Thunder Duke Incantation. If you wish to dispatch documents, determine the response for the next day. When the next day arrives, use the Heavenly Stem, Earthly Branch, and Renyuan Contract Talisman; write with cinnabar on Yang days, and with ink on Yin days. Or use the above talismans to suppress and paste, also used according to Yin and Yang days. When praying for rain, smear with ink to make it black; when praying for clear weather, do not smear it.
General Summoning Talisman
Secret Method of Writing Talismans
Heavenly thunder descends, earthly thunder descends. The Big Dipper shifts. The Thunder Duke and Lightning Mother follow my true qi and enter. One turn, the six spirits hide, Mao. Two turns, the four evil forces vanish, Chen. Three turns, move the Kui Gang, Li. Four turns, thunder and fire erupt, Shen. Five turns, thunderbolts soar, Kun. Six turns, mountain ghosts are destroyed, Dui. Seven turns, collect and summon the fifteen kinds of ghosts, the ghosts of the five directions in the void above who rebel against heaven and have no way, who block clouds and rain, and all ghosts of drought demons shall die themselves. Zi forms the framework and grasp it.
After the talisman on the right is finished, recite again: Heavenly thunder roars, earthly thunder roars, divine thunder roars, she-ling thunder roars, water thunder roars. Next, take the three qi of the Thunder Dipper to cover, and flick them into the mountain talisman. Three dots have no fixed position; look at which direction the Thunder Dipper qi is in and dot it.
Incantation says
The essence of Jiao and Ji, the spirit of Jia and Yi, stir up waves and dance, wind and rain obscure. The essence of Jing and Zhen, the spirit of Bing and Ding, flying fire for ten thousand miles, flames chasing the wind. The essence of Kui and Shen, the spirit of Geng and Xin, flowing bells and flashing lightning, swords and blades crossing. The essence of Dou and Bi, the spirit of Ren and Gui. Surging waves and rising tides, protect my body. Heaven is clear and earth is tranquil, the essence of water and fire. Thunderbolt envoys, Fire Bell generals. Three heavens' strongmen, millions of elite soldiers. Thunder and fire erupt swiftly, Wind Earl follows. Flying frost axes, marching arrays in abundance. If there are evil ghosts, unrighteous spirits, vainly seeking blood food, bitterly harming living beings, regardless of size, summon them to the thunder. Thousands have their heads cut off, tens of thousands have their forms sheared. Those who rebel against me die, those who obey me live. Whoever dares violate my command is like rebelling against Shangqing. Urgently, urgently, as the firelight statutes and ordinances.
Another incantation says
Bi, Fang, Xin, Mao, Zhang, Xu, Wei, Xing. When meeting witheredness, bring relief; when praying for sunshine, bring clear weather. Assist my Great Dao, bring rain and part the clouds. Urgently, urgently, in accordance with the statutes and ordinances.
When the Yin-Yang Contract Talisman is finished writing, add a title mark on top according to the matter, and write the taboo name of the Ziwei Emperor to cover it. On the back of the talisman, write the Immediate Response Talisman.
Praying for clear weather: Ri.
Ghosts of evil dragons in the world causing sins, hand them over under the capital talisman to be destroyed. Xuan.
Praying for rain: Shi Yue.
Drought demons in the world causing sins, hand them over under the capital talisman to be destroyed. Nu.
Beheading evil: Jian.
Roaring heaven roaring earth roaring thunder, roaring thunder captures. Liao.
Contract Talisman Model
Whenever writing the Contract Talisman, cut it open and use the inner Renyuan Talisman. Write with cinnabar on Yang days, and with ink on Yin days.
Original General Talisman Model
When the Gathering Talisman is complete, write the name Cheng Manqing on top.
Incantation
Officers and soldiers of the Three Bureaus, today's duty talisman. Follow my dispatch, hold and receive the heavenly talisman. Capture drought demons, swiftly send down pouring rain. If any dare to disobey, the thunder axe will swiftly execute. Urgently, urgently, in accordance with the statutes and ordinances.
Heaven and earth linger, wanting to move wind and thunder. Thunder and rain follow, thunder colors come and go. Yin and Yang assist, close the back and open the front. Look up to the heavenly deities, fire urgently urges. The Jade Emperor has commanded, do not violate the time. Urgently, urgently, in accordance with the statutes and ordinances.
Urging Thunder and Bringing Rain Talisman
Recite the Mulang Incantation twenty-five times, then recite the Xuhuo Great Deity Incantation, or the Yicheng Jin Incantation, and the Ma Sheng Jili Incantation five times. Shout: "Quick!" There will be an immediate response.
The talisman on the right is one foot and two inches long, five inches wide, written according to the model. When finished, stamp it with the Thunder Fire seal, spread the Dipper over it to cover it. Burn it in the incense burner.
Driving Thunder and Controlling Lightning Talisman
Taishang Xuanming, receivingLet it be strictly enforced. Talisman Envoys of Thunder, Generals of Lightning and Fire. Behead and eliminate the drought demons, showing no mercy. Drive the thunder to strike swiftly, without delay. As urgently as the Law of the Great Emperor Leizu commands.
The talisman on the right is written with an edict on black silk, burned at the tip of a sword. Visualize the Qi of the heart and kidneys rising up to dispatch it.

Incantation of Command
The East, Jia and Yi, Qianyuan is prosperous, the Qi of Zhen flows swiftly. I receive the mandate of long life, holding Heaven and Earth in my palms. Year, Month, Day, Hour proclaimed.
Official of [Title], Subject [Surname] [Given Name], receives the decree and enforces it.
The Great Emperor of the South Pole and Heavenly Sovereign.
Sequence of Praying for Rain
Generally, when praying to relieve a drought, one first records the people's petition, memorializing it to the Jade Emperor, and petitioning the Three Thunder Provinces, the Five Thunder Envoy Court, the Heavenly Department's Thunder Office, and the Heavenly Department's Ting Office, begging for a gracious mandate to be sent down to the relevant offices, to forgive the transgressions and sins of the people of the region. Then one prays for a command for a certain Thunder God to send great rain, to save the withered and parched. One then dispatches the Dragon God to bring rain. If there is no response, one goes to the position of the Tai Sui (Grand Duke of Jupiter), or the direction where the deity resides, and uses good yellow earth to build a three-tiered altar, the top tier being one zhang and two feet wide, the middle tier one zhang and eight feet wide, the bottom tier two zhang and two feet wide, and three feet and nine inches high. At the four corners, new earthen urns are used to hold water, and the water should be from a dragon pool. Talismans are soaked inside, or three-legged Neng talismans. In the center of the altar, an incense table is set up to make offerings to
The Five Thunder Envoy Court, the officials and generals of the Three Offices, and the Thunder Gods of the Two Pivot Platforms. Below the altar, offerings are made in the four directions to all officials and generals of the Thunder Ministry. The Daoist congregation below the altar offers prayers and proclamations, and then the ritual master ascends the altar. If rain falls, one gives thanks for the grace and dismantles the altar, and the urns and other items are all placed into flowing water to be washed away.

I respectfully memorialize regarding the matter of a Daoist practitioner [Name] at a certain place who submitted a petition, humbly stating that since a certain day of a certain month, accumulated Yin has been a scourge, rainwater has been excessive, markets are depressed, and the people are submerged and drowning. Therefore, they have submitted a petition requesting a ritual for clear skies. I, the subject, having received this earnest request, and since the matter concerns public welfare, am bound to execute it. I still worry that I, the subject, am of shallow learning and little merit, have not yet attained true realization, and my sincerity may not move the heavens. Without relying on the supreme mandate, how can I pray for sunshine? Not daring to act on my own authority, I must record this petition to memorialize to you.
RespectfullyRecording the Petition, Humbly Apologizing, Bowing a Hundred Times, Submitting the Memorial
To the Jade Emperor, the Supreme Lord of the Golden Portal of the August Heaven, beneath Your Jade Throne. I reverently hope for Heavenly mercy to grant my petition. Specially bestow
an edict, to be issued to the Supreme Mystic Metropolis Administration, proclaiming to the various Bureaus of Thunder, to coordinate and execute. I further beg the edict to dispatch Thunder Bureau's Flying Rapid Response Messenger Zhang, Flaming Fire Deng, and Judge Xin, together with the Great General of Flowing Metal and Fire Bells, to immediately seal the deep pools and lock the seas, stop the rain and subdue the dragons, roll up the mist and gather the clouds, clearing the sky to reveal the sun. Ensure that the divine winds fall silent and the mountains swallow the smoke. Let the sky be free of floating obscurities and the four airs bright and clear, the vast earth bright and sunny, and all people joyful and happy. If this humble wish is fulfilled, I truly owe my renewed life. For offending the Heavenly majesty, I, your subject, am utterly trembling with fear, humbly apologizing and bowing a hundred times, respectfully preparing this memorial to be heard. Respectfully memorialized.
