Indonesian Borneo (Kalimantan) Amulet

For Chinese people, the name Kalimantan is far more familiar than Borneo, and what the public is most familiar with should be the agarwood of Kalimantan. The island's mountain range starts from Mount Kinabalu (the Sacred Mountain) at the northeast end, passing through the Irian Mountains, the Ma'ale Mountains, and the Schwaner Mountains, covering a relatively small area. The main inhabitants of this island are the Dayak people. In ancient times, they had the customs of headhunting and cannibalism, which have now become enlightened. The Dayak people believe in a religion called "Kaharingan" in Indonesian, which worships ancestral souls. This religion believes that after death, people will go to a place called "Alam Datu Tunjung Punu Gamari". The Dayak people perform some special rituals to ensure that the souls of the living and the dead can reach there. The Dayak people perform these rituals in longhouses, usually presided over by a "Walian", i.e., a shaman. In addition, there are also "Panghulu", "Pembakal", "Matin" and others who can preside over the rituals.
This amulet is mainly worn by warriors in the tribe, usually hung on the chest, believed to bring good luck and courage.
