Hebei Girl Writes English with Left Hand and Chinese Characters with Right Hand, Comparable to Xiao Longnü
Writing different Chinese characters simultaneously with both hands, or even writing English with the left hand while writing Chinese characters with the right hand, a 23-year-old girl from Handan City, Hebei Province, can perform such astonishing "divided attention technique," with her ability to "do two things at once" comparable to Xiao Longnü in wuxia novels.
The reporter recently met this girl named Chen Siyuan in Handan City. According to her introduction, she did not deliberately practice this skill, but it formed naturally: "When I was in high school, once to rush to complete the homework assigned by the teacher, I subconsciously thought of using both hands to do homework at the same time, and it really succeeded. My classmates thought it was strange and纷纷learned this trick, but no one succeeded."
On a spread-out white paper, Chen Siyuan demonstrated her unique skill to the reporter on the spot. The reporter asked her to write the characters "Handan" simultaneously, and she held a pen in each hand, writing "Han" with her left hand and "Dan" with her right hand, starting and finishing at the same time.
"I can also write Chinese characters with one hand and English with the other," Chen Siyuan said. The reporter randomly asked her to write "water cup," and she wrote the English word "CUP" (meaning "water cup" in Chinese) with her left hand while writing the two Chinese characters "water cup" with her right hand. Next, the reporter gave her several more different words, and Chen Siyuan could simultaneously write English with one hand and Chinese characters with the other.
Chen Siyuan's father, Chen Sanguo, is quite proud of his daughter's skill. He said, "I have always liked reading wuxia novels, and only fictional characters like Xiao Longnü and Guo Jing in wuxia novels have this ability to 'do two things at once.' In real life, I have checked many materials, and so far, I have not found anyone similar."
At Chen Siyuan's home, the reporter saw various foreign language dictionaries, including Russian, Spanish, Korean, Arabic, and more than ten other languages. Chen Siyuan told the reporter that she really likes memorizing foreign language dictionaries and has a strong memory. "I can clearly remember the scene in my grandfather's office when I was one year old, including the layout of furniture, the color of the kettle, etc., but it is limited to just a few things. I don't know how I managed to remember these things."
