Volume One: The Chapter on Spirit Communication
Spirit communication is the communication with the spiritual energy of the universe and the spiritual energy of the Imperial Ancestor and Founding Masters, which is called spirit communication. Only after mastering spirit communication can one cultivate the spells in the following chapters and obtain various incredible magical spiritual powers.
Essential Secrets of the Heavenly Lord Seven Yuans Altar Method: For all spell cultivation, an altar must be set up. The complexity of its setup varies depending on the cultivation lineage, but all variations remain rooted in the same principle. Only within a specific magical altar can specific skills be cultivated. This altar is the North Pole Seven Yuans Returning to Truth Altar of the Imperial Ancestor Heavenly Lord Sect. Its setup is simple and practical, suitable for setting up altars for various spell cultivations. The main item is a piece of cotton cloth in seven different colors (other fabrics can be used as substitutes), made into a fan shape, called the "Seven Yuans Returning to Truth," with a "Crossing the Law and Penetrating Truth Talisman" sandwiched inside. This talisman was inscribed with hand seals by the Donggu True Man, and bears the magical seal of the Donggu True Man and the Heavenly Lord's Precious Mirror.
1. Method of making the Seven Yuans Returning to Truth fan:
1. Choose seven colors of cloth: dark red, light red, dark blue, green, white, and black. Cut each into a 9-inch by 9-inch square. Fold them separately into rectangular cloths 3 inches wide and 9 inches long, then stack the seven cloths together in the above order. 3. Unfold the seven-color cloth into a fan shape (larger at the top, smaller at the bottom). 4. Use needle and thread to fix the fan shape along the outer arc, and sew a 5-inch long bamboo strip on the back of the fan (the black side) for hanging. 5. Sandwich the "Crossing the Law and Penetrating Truth Talisman" in the middle of the yellow cloth among the seven-color cloths.
2. Secret Decrees: 1. The room for setting up the altar should be clean and quiet. 2. Hang the seven-color cloth on the east wall of the altar room. The hanging height should be 150cm--190cm, slightly taller than your own height. The hanging dates should be the Zi hour (11 PM - 1 AM) of the first day or the fifteenth day of the lunar month (based on the lunar calendar). 3. Place a square table against the wall below the seven-color cloth. Place an incense burner in the center of the table, and place a statue of "Taishang Laojun" (the Grand Supreme Elderly Lord) at the center edge of the table. Write "Imperial Ancestor's Decree" in ink on the left side of the Laojun statue, and write "True Master" in ink on the right side. 4. The cultivation of this method must be done sitting west and facing east, facing the Seven Yuans Returning to Truth spirit communication fan. 5. Place a meditation cushion in front of the table for sitting cross-legged during cultivation. 6. On the 15th day of the 7th lunar month, the Winter Solstice, Qingming Festival, and the three days before and four days after them (a total of 24 days), cultivation is not allowed. 6. On the 15th day of the 7th lunar month, the Winter Solstice, Qingming Festival, and the three days before and four days after them (a total of 24 days), it is forbidden to practice the Inviting the Master Method, the Divine Water Spirit Communication Method, and all secret talisman and incantation methods. 7. On the first and fifteenth of every lunar month, three plates of fruit can be offered on the table (it is best to offer citrus fruits, peaches, etc.; avoid offering pomegranates, plums, etc.). 8. From the 1st to the 7th, and the 15th to the 21st of every lunar month, the late Zi hour and early Mao hour are the times for the Donggu True Man to practice and refine the method. Beginners can use the Inviting the Master Method indoors to connect with the magical power and sincerely receive the method. The True Man will use boundless Daoist magical power to purify the body, protect the practitioner, transmit the method, and awaken the spirit for the student. 9. After setting up the altar, women and animals must not enter the altar area to avoid destroying the magical altar and defiling the Daoist altar. If a person not of the Dao enters, the "Dispelling Filth Method" must be used to purify the altar room, and the "Five Fragrances Penetrating Truth Bath" must be used to wash the whole body. 10. Appended Five Fragrances Penetrating Truth Bath formula: Angelica root: dispels the Three Corpses; Peach bark: wards off evil qi; Cypress leaves: can summon true immortals; Clove: can gather holy spirits; Costus root: dispels filth and summons the truth. Take 27 grams of each, boil in boiling water for 10 minutes, then pour into a bathtub, remove the dregs, and wash the whole body.
One of the basic cultivation secret methods. 1. Incantation (Inviting the Master Incantation): Raise eyes to gaze at the blue sky, the Master is by my side; raise eyes to gaze at the blue sky, the Master is before my eyes. The disciple calls a thousand times and gets a thousand responses, calls ten thousand times and it is ten thousand times effective. The disciple gets responses without calling, gets effects without calling. Swiftly, swiftly, in accordance with the statutes and ordinances; 2. Hand Seal (Inviting the Master Seal): The left hand's five fingers naturally extend straight and slightly apart, the thumb pinches the outer side of the horizontal crease at the base of the index finger. Then naturally hold the palm upright before the chest, palm facing right, fingertips pointing upward about level with the nose. The right palm's Laogong acupoint covers the navel, fingers slightly apart, pointing left. 3. Procedure: 1. Face the Seven Yuans Returning to Truth fan, burn three sticks of incense and place them in the incense burner; 2. Form the Inviting the Master Seal with your hand; 3. Click your teeth three times, visualize the Master's image or silently recite the Master's name, then silently recite the Inviting the Master Incantation: 4. Every time you cultivate the method or heal someone, you must first invite the Master, and then cultivate respect and devotion; 2. Visualize the Master's image or silently recite the name and chant the incantation seven times, 3. After inviting the Master, you should immediately practice the "Divine Water Spirit Communication Method".
3. Divine Water Spirit Communication Method; 1. Incantation (Twenty-Eight Mansions Incantation): Jiao, Kang, Di, Fang, Xin, Wei, Ji; Dou, Niu, Nü, Xu, Wei, Shi, Bi; Kui, Lou, Wei, Mao, Bi, Zui, Shen; Jing, Gui, Liu, Xing, Zhang, Yi, Zhen. 2. Talisman Style (Ziwei Talisman): This talisman has an upper, middle, and lower structure. First write the talisman head character "雨" (rain), then write "渐", then write "耳", all following the standard stroke order of Chinese characters. 3. Hand Seal (Three Mountains Seal——The left thumb, index finger, and little finger extend straight and apart, forming a tripod with three fingers; the middle finger and ring finger naturally bend and hold the palm to form a seal. 4. Items: A small bowl with a diameter of about 10cm, filled with more than half a bowl of clean drinking water. 5. Procedure: 1. Stand in a T-step (Dayu Step); 2. Place the left hand in front of the chest, and form a Sword Seal with the right hand before the chest; 3. Visualize a beam of golden light injecting into the bowl, use the Sword Seal to draw the Ziwei Talisman over the water bowl, with the finger about five centimeters from the water surface. For every stroke drawn, recite one character of the incantation simultaneously. The entire talisman consists of twenty-eight strokes, corresponding to the twenty-eight incantation characters. Repeat the drawing 7 to 49 times. 4. After cultivation, hold the bowl with both hands before your chest, inhale a mouthful of seven-colored qi, blow it into the bowl, and drink the bowl of water in one breath.
6. Essential Secret Decrees; 1. The mind must be pure, the speed neither fast nor slow, continuous and unbroken; 2. The talisman and incantation must be synchronized, the incantation recited silently; 3. The talisman writing must not exceed the rim of the bowl; 4. The magical talisman can be written in three parts overlapping in the water; 5. Cultivation must be continuous and uninterrupted. Practice once a day, 7 times per session, and it will be accomplished in 49 days. Practice 7 times a day, 7 times per session, and it will be accomplished in 7 days. Practice once a day, 49 times per session, and it will be accomplished in 7 days. 6. Only after 7 days of cultivation can one practice the spells in the following chapters; otherwise, it is a waste of time and effort, and haste makes waste; 7. Sexual intercourse is forbidden during the cultivation period.
Jade Fluid Qi Absorption Method: 1. Incantation (Incantation for Absorbing True Qi): Heaven and earth are clear and tranquil, sun and moon are bright and radiant, ten thousand Buddhas come to aid, a hundred spirits protect the form, protecting the body and guarding the physical being, attaining longevity, swallowing saliva to exchange qi, dispelling illness and achieving long life, righteous qi resides within the body, ten thousand illnesses depart from the body, swiftly and urgently as commanded by law. 2. Talisman Format (Talisman for Boosting Qi and Replenishing the Body): First draw the talisman head "Three Hooks" and the two characters "Command", then start from the center and draw five inward spiraling circles counterclockwise from left to right, and then follow the standard stroke order of Chinese characters to complete the lower half of the talisman. 3. Essential Secrets of the Five Qi: 1. Every morning upon waking, calm your mind and intentions, stand facing East, exhale a breath of turbid qi from the body, inhale a breath of green qi from the East and swallow it into the Dantian; 2. Turn to face South, exhale the turbid qi from the body, inhale a breath of red qi from the South and swallow it into the Dantian; 3. Next, stand facing West, exhale a breath of turbid qi from the body, inhale a breath of white qi from the West and swallow it into the Dantian; 4. Then turn to face North, exhale a breath of turbid qi from the body, inhale a breath of black qi from the North and swallow it into the Dantian; 5. At this time, there will be fluid in the mouth, divide it into three parts and slowly swallow it into the Dantian, silently reciting the incantation three times; 6. Then use the tip of your tongue to trace the Talisman for Boosting Qi and Replenishing the Body once on the roof of the mouth, visualizing spiritual light emitting ten thousand rays of golden light absorbed into the Dantian.
Marrow Washing and Essence Replenishing Method: 1. Incantation (Marrow Washing Incantation): Ancestral master's spiritual energy, shines upon the whole body, removes filth, entire body becomes clear and bright, adds to the marrow and essence, protects life and strengthens the body, assisted by all spirits, restores my original form, sheds the mortal body and exchanges bones, lifespan equals that of heaven, swiftly and urgently as commanded by law. 2. Talisman Format: (Talisman for Washing Marrow and Replenishing Essence), first draw the talisman head "Three Hooks", then draw three "small circles" and use standard Chinese character strokes to complete the upper half of the talisman, then start from the center and draw three left inward spiraling circles clockwise, and finally draw three right inward spiraling circles counterclockwise. 3. Essential Secrets: 1. Every morning after completing the Jade Fluid Qi Absorption Method, you may continue to practice this method. 2. Visualize the spiritual light of the sun in the East penetrating and illuminating your entire body; 3. Lower your head slightly, place your hands together in front of your chest, visualize the golden spiritual light of the sun pouring in from the Baihui acupoint at the crown of your head and filling your entire body, cleansing the hair and washing the marrow, gathering the filth and passively removing impurities, visualize all harmful and adverse turbid qi being expelled from the pores of your entire body; 4. Silently recite the incantation three times; 5. Use the tip of your tongue to trace the "Talisman for Washing Marrow and Replenishing Essence" once on the roof of the mouth, and swallow the resulting fluid and jade essence into the Dantian; 6. The "Jade Fluid Qi Absorption Method" and "Marrow Washing and Essence Replenishing Method" should be practiced more often during the four periods of Zi, Wu, Mao, and You every day.
Meditative Mind Attainment Method: 1. Talisman Format (Meditative Mind Attainment Talisman): First draw the talisman head "Three Hooks", then write the four characters "Spiritual Light Suspended Illumination", these four characters can be written overlapping, then start from the center and draw six spiraling circles clockwise, and finally follow the standard stroke order of Chinese characters to complete the lower half. 2. Procedure: 1. Before practicing other methods, you must first use the tip of your tongue to trace a Meditative Mind Talisman on the roof of your mouth, swallow it into the Dantian, or burn a cinnabar-written talisman and consume it; sit cross-legged on a meditation mat, visualize your entire body being illuminated by seven-colored spiritual light, and your body becoming clear and bright inside; 3. Form the Samadhi Meditative Mind Mudra with both hands, palms facing up, for men place the left hand inside the right palm, connect the tips of the left and right thumbs to form a secure grip and place it at the Dantian to form the mudra, left hand at the bottom and right hand on top gripping securely to form the mudra; 4. Close your eyes slightly, breathe naturally and slowly, listen to nothing else, focus your entire mind on your slow, even, and long breaths, until there is no mind and no breath, formless and thoughtless; 5. Then practicing other methods will be of great help, in order to better communicate with spiritual energy and quickly attain the method.
Spiritual Eye Opening the Profound Method: 1. Incantation (Spiritual Eye Opening the Profound Incantation): Divine light of heaven, divine light of earth, open the light before the eyes, incantation makes the sacred eye open, divine light enters the mirror, opened in seven days, spiritually responsive divine eye, I am commanded by Taishang Laojun, swiftly and urgently as commanded by law. 2. Talisman Format (Spiritual Eye Opening the Profound Talisman): Following the stroke order of Chinese characters, write the two characters "Command", then write the four characters "Nine Palaces Illuminating the Big Dipper", then starting from the top left, draw a circle clockwise, and write the three characters "Spiritual Eye Opens" beneath the circle. 3. Hand Mudra (Right Sword Mudra): Briefly seen in this textbook. 4. Cultivation; Choose the midnight hour (Zi) on the 15th day of the lunar month or a Jiazi destiny day as the first day of cultivation. Place a circular copper mirror with a diameter of 10--20cm on the ground in front of the altar in a quiet room (a glass mirror can be used as a substitute, but the effect is inferior). Stand facing the Seven Yuans Returning to Truth Big Dipper Steps, form the mudra to invoke the master, communicate with spiritual energy, and burn a cinnabar-written "Spiritual Eye Opening the Profound Talisman" in front of the copper mirror. At the same time, point the right hand Sword Mudra at the mirror surface, at a distance of about 3cm, and silently recite the "Spiritual Eye Opening the Profound Incantation" 49 times. Performing this ritual once creates the Dharma Mirror. This mirror has been activated and connected to the spirit; thereafter, there is no need to perform the ritual in front of the mirror. Simply burn the "Spiritual Eye Opening the Profound Talisman" in clean water, wash your eyes with it when practicing, and then practice according to the method for a full seven days (some practitioners need to practice for 21 days, 49 days, or more, depending on their Daoist affinity, aptitude, and foundation). Then you can initially master and use the "Spiritual Eye". At this time, it is best not to use it as much as possible; wait until you have practiced for a full 49 days before using it freely, so as to avoid insufficient power and damaging your foundation, lest you regret it when it is too late!
5. Procedure: Sit cross-legged facing the Seven Yuans Returning to Truth posture, about one foot away from the mirror. Close your eyes slightly, gaze at your own eyes in the mirror. Pinch your thumbs onto the "Si pattern" to form the mudra (thumb tip pinching the index finger tip to form a circle, remaining fingers naturally extended), then place your palms facing up on your left and right knees. Look down with both eyes, relax your whole body, and silently recite the "Spiritual Eye Opening the Profound Incantation" seven times. Visualize a ball of golden light in the lower Dantian. Hold this for about 3 minutes, which can be adjusted according to your own condition. Next, visualize a ball of golden light in the middle Dantian for about a minute, and finally visualize a ball of golden light in the upper Dantian for 3 minutes. Then slowly open your eyes and look at your own eyes in the mirror as if looking but not looking (when looking, do not focus intensely, stare, or look at other places; it is best not to blink). Within this mirror, there are profound and wondrous changes: sometimes you turn into the form of a demon, a beautiful woman or handsome man, a mountain spirit or ghost, or immortal realms, mountains and rivers, animals and plants, the sun, moon, and stars may appear. Those with affinity may also see great masters of the profound realm in the mirror, who will support and assist your practice, or secretly pass down various Dharma treasures and spells. When illusions appear in the mirror, be extremely careful not to be beguiled by them. You should remain unstartled and unjoyful, unafraid and unangry, looking but not seeing, remaining composed; seeing the strange as not strange, and the strange will naturally defeat itself. This eye is not the "Heavenly Eye" or "Celestial Eye" spoken of in the Qigong community; please do not confuse them. This technique should be practiced after cultivating the "Divine Water" and the "Invoking the Master Method" for seven days. When concluding the practice, use your intention to withdraw the divine light from the eyes in the mirror, visualizing two beams of golden light shooting from the mirror into your own eyes, with the divine energy gathering and storing in the Dantian (center of the brain). Remain still in this meditation for 15 minutes, and then you can conclude the practice.
6: Spiritual Eye Testing Method Tips: If a patient has been ill for a long time without recovery, and you suspect it is a symptom of ghost or spirit possession, you can use the "Spiritual Eye" to observe. The method is: have the patient sit about one foot away from you, instruct them to relax their whole body and close their eyes slightly. Following the method of looking into the mirror, observe the patient's eyes for a few minutes. You will then see a form above the patient's crown or behind their head. Based on this form, you can determine what kind of spiritual entity has possessed them. After seeing it, close your eyes and silently recite the "Spiritual Eye Opening the Profound Incantation" seven times. Once this eye is cultivated, you will see various entities of yin spirits at night and in graveyards, see various halos on those accomplished in Qigong cultivation, and see various disease qi on patients, etc. Those with affinity may also see invisible ancestral masters and immortals in the air of the profound realm in certain specific environments. Once this eye is cultivated, you must absolutely not speak to outsiders about the various strange sights you see, otherwise you will lose this divine function.
Golden Light Manifestation Method: 1. Incantation (Golden Light Incantation): Ancestral mystery of Heaven and Earth, root of all Qi, cultivating through eons of kalpas, proving my divine powers. Within and without the Three Realms, only the Dao is supreme. My body is covered in golden light, protecting my form. Unseen by the eye, unheard by the ear. Encompassing Heaven and Earth, nourishing all beings. Recite it once, and the body radiates with bright light. The Three Realms guard me, the Five Emperors welcome me. Ten thousand gods bow in reverence, commanding the thunder and lightning. Ghosts and demons lose their courage, spirits and monsters lose their forms. Inside contains the thunderbolt, the Thunder God's hidden name. Wisdom and clarity intertwine, the Five Qi soaring. Golden light appear swiftly, covering and protecting the true man. Swiftly, swiftly, in accordance with the statutes and ordinances. 2. Hand Seal (Golden Light Seal): The middle and ring fingers of both hands cross each other parallelly, inserting inward into the palms. Straighten the thumbs, index fingers, and little fingers of both hands, pinching the fingertips together to form the seal. Raise the hand seal to the level of the eyebrows. 3. Essential Secrets: 1. Every day at the You hour (5-7 PM), burn three incense sticks, insert them into the censer, then form the mudra to invoke the master and connect with the spiritual energy of successive patriarchs. 2. Form the Golden Light Seal with both hands, raise it to eyebrow height, close the eyes slightly, visualize the whole body bathed in golden light, and silently recite the Golden Light Incantation once. 3. After the incantation, blow a breath onto the seal mudra, then move the seal mudra to the Baihui acupoint on the crown of the head. Visualize millions of rays of golden light covering and protecting yourself for about three minutes, then release the mudra behind the back to disperse the seal. 4. Practice this 21 times to conclude the session. 5. After 49 days of sufficient practice, majestic golden light will manifest, brilliantly illuminating the golden body. This method can rapidly increase magical and spiritual power; it should be practiced frequently in daily life.
Volume Two: Healing Section
Five Thunder Palm Disease Expelling Method: 1. Incantation (Five Thunder Incantation): Eastern Green Thunder, Southern Red Thunder, Western White Thunder, Northern Black Thunder, Central Yellow Thunder. I respectfully invite the Five Thunders of the Five Directions to ascend the thunder body, swiftly manifest divine powers, and follow me to eliminate disease. Boom boom boom boom boom boom, auspiciously奉 Tai Shang Lao Jun, swiftly, swiftly, in accordance with the statutes and ordinances. 2. Talisman Style (Wang Thunder Talisman): Write five "Thunder" (雷) characters in a cross shape. Starting from the bottom left of the "Thunder" character, draw three small counterclockwise spirals. 3. Hand Mudras (Five Thunder Mudra, Lingguan Mudra): 1. Five Thunder Mudra: Flatten the fingers of the left hand, bend the five fingers inward into the palm, then press the thumb over the nails of the index, middle, ring, and little fingers to grip firmly into a seal. 2. Lingguan Mudra: Straighten the middle finger, pinch the back of the first joint crease of the middle finger with the index finger, pinch the first joint crease of the middle finger with the thumb tip, and bend the ring and little fingers into the palm to form a seal. 4. Procedure: 1. Sit cross-legged facing the Seven Elements Returning to Truth posture. 2. Form the Thunder Mudra with the left hand and place it in front of the lower abdomen, close the eyes slightly. 3. Visualize the thunderous mighty divine power of the Five Thunders of the Five Directions sequentially connecting with your own five internal organs, i.e., the Eastern Green Thunder merges with the liver, spending 1 minute on each organ. 4. Then blend the Five Thunders of the Five Directions into a five-colored sphere, inhale this Five Thunder spiritual elixir into the lower Dantian simultaneously through the mouth and nose, repeating seven times. 5. Open both eyes, form the Lingguan Mudra with the right hand. 6. Place the left Thunder Mudra at the left side of the waist, place the right Lingguan Mudra in front of the chest, with fingertips pointing diagonally to the front left. 7. Then use the Lingguan Mudra to draw the Five Thunder Talisman in the void in front of you 21 times while silently reciting the incantation. 6. Essential Secrets: 1. Practicing on the first thunder day of spring every year yields the best results, known in ancient times as the "Catching the Ground Thunder Method". 2. The method is accomplished after 7 to 49 days of cultivation. 3. It can be initially applied after 7 days of cultivation. 4. During healing, use the left Five Thunder Mudra and the right Lingguan Mudra to draw the Five Thunder Talisman towards the affected area, repeatedly writing for about 5 minutes; there is no need to worry about the writing being neat and standardized. 5. After healing is complete, use the Lingguan Mudra to draw the Five Thunder Talisman in the void onto the left palm, and pat the affected area with the palm 21 times. 6. This method is suitable for treating various diseases, and has good curative effects on tumors, gallstones, rheumatic numbness, lumbar muscle strain, bone hyperplasia, etc. The healing immortal methods introduced in this section all take 7 days as one course of treatment.
Nine Dragons Returning to the Cave Bone Dissolving Method: 1. Incantation (Nine Dragons Bone Dissolving Incantation): This bowl of water is the vast ocean, the throat transforms into a bottomless abyss, nine dragons return to the cave, I奉 Tai Shang Lao Jun, swiftly, swiftly, in accordance with the statutes and ordinances. 2. Talisman Style (Nine Dragons Bone Dissolving Talisman): Write according to Chinese character stroke order: 2. Essential Secrets: 1. Stand facing the Seven Elements Returning to Truth posture, hold a bowl of water with the left Three Mountains Mudra, place the right Lingguan Mudra in front of the chest, inhale a breath of Eastern Ancestral Qi and blow it into the bowl. 2. Use the right Lingguan Mudra to write the talisman in the water bowl 7 times, incantation and talisman synchronized, at a suitable speed, without pausing or interrupting. If used to practice swallowing bamboo chopsticks, absolutely do not pause while drawing the talisman and reciting the incantation, otherwise the bamboo chopsticks will feel stuck and painful when passing through the throat; please pay special attention to this. 3. After completing the practice according to the above method, drink the water immediately; mastery is achieved after 7 days of practice.
Hemostasis Method: Urine Water Hemostasis Method. This method does not require cultivation; anyone who has practiced the Divine Water Spiritual Communication Method for 49 days can use it effectively as long as they memorize the incantation and talisman style. 1. Incantation (Hemostasis Incantation): The sun rises in the east with a touch of red, holding a golden whip and riding an ox backwards, one gulp cuts off the Yangtze River water, stopping the red door blood from flowing. 2. Talisman Style (Hemostasis Talisman): First write the secret characters according to Chinese stroke order, then starting from the bottom right, draw a circle clockwise. 3. Essential Secrets: 1. Stand facing east. 2. Use the Ox Head Mudra, Sword Mudra, and Lingguan Mudra to aim at the wound and draw the talisman. 3. Recite the incantation simultaneously; when the incantation finishes, the talisman stops, completed in one breath. 4. For normal bleeding, drawing the talisman three times is enough to stop it; if not stopped, draw it seven times. For heavy bleeding, go to the hospital.
Pain Relief Method: 1. Incantation (Pain Relief Incantation): Heaven is spiritual, Earth is spiritual, the pain-relieving immortal master arrives. Gods of pain relief from the four directions, sha of pain relief from the five directions. Relieve pain instantly, reduce swelling immediately, I奉 Tai Shang Lao Jun, swiftly, swiftly, in accordance with the statutes and ordinances. 2. Talisman Style (Pain Relief Talisman): First write the talisman head with three hooks and the four characters "敕令止痛" (Order to Relieve Pain), then continuously draw from the inside out nine clockwise spirals from small to large.
