Formula of the Five Thunders Striking Household Members

Zi, Wu, Mao, You enter the Heavenly Palace; Chen, Xu, Wei, Chou must never meet.  This is called the Five Thunders striking the household; know the traces of five before and five after.  Zi fears Chen arriving, and Chen fears Zi; mixing the principles of the origin will surely invite misfortune.

Sanfu note: What is called the Five Thunders striking household members is a taboo transgression in Jiangxi geograph (feng shui), namely harming or reducing the population. The method uses the five characters Zi, Wu, Mao, You in reverse order: beginning Zi at Chen, and Chen at Zi, and so deducing. Where the five-before and five-after meet on the human-origin number is the Five Thunders striking household members. There is also a secret method of calculation that is unsuitable to disclose; judging only by this principle: a Zi mountain meeting Chen, a Wu mountain meeting Xu, a Mao mountain meeting Wei, a You mountain meeting Chou—and the reverse likewise. However, if one gains through the combined trigrams, one may still have fewer household members yet flourish. If one transgresses with You and Chou, lawsuits and disputes often arise in You or Chou years, months, days, or hours; it is also inauspicious in years of the Three Harmonies and Four Clashes. Whenever twelve years pass, it is certain to strike with fewer household members. There is further a secret method of calculation that is unsuitable to disclose.
