Human fate is limited; even for those who possess the art, constrained by the turns of fortune, half a lifetime of striving yields at most a small site.

As for great earth sites, one may be able to see them, but not necessarily obtain them.

Across the vast wilderness, where no one goes, and wherever human settlement reaches, buying a plot for a tomb costs a sky-high price.

Thus the ancients said that great sites can only be obtained by those with the right affinity—there is reason in this.

Yet if one cannot obtain them oneself, how can one freely give away wealth and rank to others?

And it is not something that a mere sum of money can measure.

Therefore, for relatives and friends—one does not do it,

for outsiders—one does it even less.
