A Day-Selection Chart for the Deng Clan's Newly Built Ancestral Hall (Somewhere)

This is a well-known day-selection chart widely circulated online: sitting on Yi, facing Xin, leaning toward Chen and Xu; the hexagram is Zhongfu (Inner Truth); the four pillars are Jia-Wu, Jia-Xu, Yi-Mao, and Geng-Chen. **Sanfu's note:** In years of Jia and Ji, it is by nature a soil luck cycle. This chart was chosen presumably for the reconstruction of this ancestral hall, so it is judged from the facing. Using this chart — with Yi-Mao and Geng-Chen — although Yi and Geng combine, Mao and Chen harm each other, so the combination cannot take effect; moreover, the Mao–Xu combination has nothing to rest upon. Wu fire enters Xu and is sealed off; Chen wishes to clash with Xu but is far too distant to help with the immediate thirst. Furthermore, on a Yi mountain, Chen is the Yang Blade; meeting Xu it becomes the bow and arrow — drawing the bow and loosing the arrow — hence the loss of male descendants (ding). According to this account, since construction began, within a single five-month period eight male lives have already been lost in succession.
