Variations of the Palm-Hexagram Turning Method

The common palm method of hexagram turning.

Li Xun Kun Dui

Qian Gen Kan Zhen

It begins and ends at the side edges; begins and ends at the center; starts from above and falls below; starts from below and rises above.

Beginning from the mountain position, start Tan at the opposite palace: 12345678.

Beginning from the facing position, the auxiliary-star water method: 86751234.

Beginning from the hexagram, start Tan at the opposite palace: 12345678 or 15643278.

For any opposite palace, if one does not follow but returns to the home palace, one can obtain it by starting the auxiliary in reverse order.

If one begins from the mountain position but does not follow by starting Tan at the opposite palace, then begin the auxiliary at the home palace, in the order 87654321.

Furthermore, according to the starting-verse of the Chixing Heavenly Father hexagram: Qian begins Fu and Bi, Kun begins Lu Cun, Gen begins Wu Qu, Xun begins Lian Zhen, Dui begins Tan Lang, Zhen begins Ju Men, Kan begins Wu Qu, and Li begins Po Jun. This is in fact taking Qian as Fu and arranging 87654321; and again arranging the Earth Mother, also starting from Qian, 25496738—in truth all following this.
