Nonsense About Harmony
Generally speaking, there are several pantheons of deities presiding over harmony, which will be discussed separately here:
First, let's talk about orthodox methods:
First, those that are not systematic:
Taking Taoism as an example, such as the God of Yue Lao. The God of Yue Lao is actually mainly responsible for tying the red thread of fate. He often cooperates with the Matchmaker or mobilizes Tianxi and Hongluan to promote marriage. Strictly speaking, he does not belong to the deities who practice "Hehe" (harmony), but rather to the deities who promote marital destiny. It should be noted that when burning incense, making offerings, and worshipping him to seek marital destiny, sufficient sincerity and powerful offerings are required. There are many other deities who do not emphasize marital destiny but can also be prayed to for it, such as Tianhou Mazu, who has many miraculous stories of answering prayers for marriage; or Chen Jinggu, who is often used as a deity for praying for marriage because she can protect childbirth and resolve difficulties. There are many such examples.
For other religions, one prays to their own supreme deities. However, the characteristic of most of these is that they mainly focus on praying for marital destiny or husband-wife harmony.
However, regardless of which religion, attempting to directly worship deities for pre-marital harmony is basically ineffective.
Additionally, some teachings suggest chanting sutras or reciting mantras to change someone's mind, etc. Speaking politely, this is called guiding people gently to hear the orthodox Dharma. Speaking bluntly, this is deceiving people into believing in the religion. Once they have memorized the chants and cannot extricate themselves, they are then drawn into the sect.
Whether the problem is solved or not is not important; what is important is that the recruited people experience a thrill similar to pyramid schemes, feeling that they have accumulated merit and are one step closer to becoming X.
This type belongs to deceiving people to rationalize it, fabricating various lies to deceive for the sake of proselytizing, which is something Taoism is unwilling to do.
Those that are systematic are series of deities:
First is Zhao Gongming, the Commander-in-Chief. Some people might wonder: Isn't Marshal Zhao Gongming the God of Wealth? Actually, they underestimate Marshal Zhao. Marshal Zhao is not just a God of Wealth; he is also excellent at dispelling evil, curing diseases, harmony, attracting wealth, and resolving legal disputes. He is almost omnipotent; it's just that his image as a God of Wealth is more widely known. If it is in Taoist magic, there are extremely many laws where Marshal Zhao is the main deity for harmony.
Second is Tian Yuan Shuai, also known as the Three Tian Generals. The origin of this deity is somewhat chaotic. Later generations identified the musician Lei Haiqing as the Three Tian Marshal, which is actually incorrect. The worship of Tian Yuan Shuai is earlier, and Lei Haiqing was later superimposed upon him, although it later became folklore. Specific related content can be found in some考证 (textual research) articles.
Third are the Two Sages of Harmony. Although called "Two Sages," the main one worshipped is Zhang Wan Hui. His image is unkempt hair and smiling face, wearing green clothes, holding a drum in his left hand and a stick in his right hand, known as the God of Harmony. In the Qing Dynasty, Hanshan and Shide were made into the Two Sages of Harmony, which messed up the system. Here, "Harmony" refers to the harmony of the six relatives, which also includes husband-wife harmony, so people often worship them, and they are often used in general harmony rituals or talismanic methods.
There are many others that will not be explained in detail.
The above pantheons are usually used in combination. The most common systematic usage is described as follows: The Heavenly Master saw the miraculous nature of Marshal Tian, so he established laws to dispatch him to assist the Xuantan, and decreed the Two Harmony Immortals to help manifest the Daoist magic. Where there is no harmony, there is discord; where there is no illness, there is no resolution. The Heavenly Master memorialized the throne, and Emperor Mingtang of Tang enfeoffed Tian Taiwei as the Marquis of Zhao Lie, Tian Erwei as the Marquis of Zhao You, Tian Sanwei as the Marquis of Zhao Ning; the Holy Father as the Marquis of Jiaji, the Holy Mother as the Lady of Dian; the Third Grandfather as the Marquis of Zhaoji, the Third Grandmother as the Lady Jin; the Three Taiwei Dou, Guo, and He; Miss Jinhua; Little Lady Meihua; Little Lady Shengjin; Monk Wantong; The Peacemaker Old Man; He Gong Sanjiu Chengshi; Pan Marshal of All Harmony; Tian Hehe Ziyuan Shuai; Di Hehe Liu Yuan Shuai; Yang and Geng, two immortal messengers in the Dipper; Sun Xi who sends and reports dreams; the Green-clad童子 (boy); the red-matchmaker, pink-gentle, joyful, laughing, singing, and dancing holy masses on and under the Ten-Lotus Bridge; the millions of holy masses of the three departments of Yueyang, etc.
In other words, Marshal Tian assists Marshal Zhao, bringing the Two Harmony Immortals to manifest the Daoist magic; this is the most fundamental principle.
Many who draw talismans or perform rituals mess around randomly, directly using the Two Harmony Immortals or directly using Marshal Tian for harmony, without asking if the main altar Marshal Zhao agreed ( ^_^ ).
Many people now promote harmony on the internet, especially for pre-marital harmony, claiming it is orthodox magic. They brag so loudly that I have always been confused. After flipping through several boxes of harmony manuals, I could not find any that could be used for pre-marital harmony. So I was curious. Where did this concept of "pre-marital harmony" come from from pure harmony laws? This completely contradicts the moral concepts of the ancients.
So I looked at some available on the market. The results were quite amusing. In books like "Hehe Zhi Mi" (The Ultimate Secret of Harmony), the manuals themselves are fine, but these harmony laws are clearly only reliable for commanding the union of couples (other parts like attracting wealth are not discussed here).
Therefore, many people who haven't even figured out the pantheon use these manuals to bluff and deceive unmarried individuals.
Here, let me explain: If you are a believer, do not believe in a manual just because someone throws it at you. Although not many people own these manuals, most are dug up from ancient book trading websites. Then they are treasured as supreme treasures. In fact, they don't even understand the internal secrets of practicing talismans and other methods, so they start drawing them according to the book. Naturally, the effect is poor.
Just remember: In orthodox magic, there is no mention of methods for pre-marital harmony. Orthodox harmony laws are only effective for couples.
If the reader of this article is a priest, you will likely have more to talk about with believers after reading this. If you engage in pre-marital harmony, I will not blame you, as this is a folk need. But please remember that harmony laws are原则上 (in principle) only for couples.
If it is to meet the needs of believers, such as offering incense, praying to a deity, submitting a memorial, performing a ritual, resolving sha, or providing comfort, that is acceptable. But please adhere to the premise that if it works, it's good; if it doesn't work, it doesn't matter. For fees, let believers give donations according to their circumstances. Do not deceive believers or tarnish the reputation of orthodox Taoism.
Unorthodox methods:
Unorthodox methods are actually the mainstream now because orthodox methods do not handle pre-marital harmony, so the "Jianghu" (folk/martial arts world) harmony is more common, but most of it is also deceptive.
Don't tell me if you are from Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, or if you are an office wizard in Italy. Whether you are bluffing me can be seen at a glance, no need to argue.
There is a type that is not particularly evil but does not belong to orthodox methods. It is fake talismans with real medicine. This is generally performed with talismans combined with medicine. Why is it defined as evil magic? Because it is simple: the medicine used is aphrodisiacs. This belongs to a type of medicine magic, which is more common in remote areas and among ethnic minorities, generally called "Love Medicine." This type is also useless for modern people seeking pre-marital harmony, so do not try it. Getting sick from it is equivalent to poisoning.
Popular in Taiwan and Malaysia, the most common is using Yin method harmony. There are two types of Yin method harmony: one is the so-called sending of Yin soldiers to confuse the soul, and the other is adjusting the soul and魂魄 (spirit) to confuse the soul.
By the way, things like the so-called Yin Mountain method are all about this.
There are many so-called fake priests in the country who also like to brag everywhere. They claim to be from some altar of a certain Thunder Department Commander, saying they have summoned or raised Yin soldiers. This is extremely humorous. The Thunder Department is the orthodox Thunder Department. Any priest with a legitimate lineage has Thunder Department generals and soldiers guarding and stabilizing the altar. Would they allow you to play with Yin soldiers on the altar?
Even with Yin methods, one is required to go everywhere to borrow incense from Yin temples, and then avoid performing rituals with ordinary orthodox deities. In the mouths of these so-called priests who don't know what they are talking about, confusing ghosts and gods and talking nonsense becomes理所当然 (taken for granted).
Sending Yin soldiers sounds good, as if the priest is very powerful and has troops. "Sending troops to押 (detain) the souls of two people together." It sounds plausible, but in reality, if the destiny is fundamentally incompatible, will detaining them together work? If you add some water to oil, can the water turn into oil?
Adjusting the soul and魂魄 to confuse the soul is the same. They are detained together, and then it is said they can be united. This is indeed useful for couples, but for unmarried people, it is truly nonsense. The reason it works for couples is that there is a contract, so the souls can merge. As long as that contract is missing, no matter how hard you try to unite them, the destiny restrictions will prevent it.
There are also smart priests who say, "If we solve the obstacles in your destiny, you can be united." Some people think, "Hmm, that sounds reasonable."
It sounds reasonable, but in practice, changing destiny requires a huge price. And the general priests play this game. For example, if the Bazi (Four Pillars of Destiny) shows a weak self that cannot bear wealth, they give you a talisman to strengthen the self. This strengthens the self, brings wealth, and thus brings a wife, achieving harmony.
This is pure nonsense. The strength of the Day Master and the other seven elements, along with the major and minor cycles, is a complete system. How can a mere talisman solve it?
It is like that paradox: If you go back in time and kill yourself, will you still exist now?
Of course, you can explain it with parallel universes. But, really amazing, a talisman can play with time travel. I bow down to you. It's a pity to give you the Nobel Prize. The parallel universe free immigration plan for Earth's people relies entirely on you.
Because things in the "Jianghu" are more attractive the more evil they are fabricated, things like the so-called "Pig Talisman" in Taiwan have talisman designs that are mostly obscene, intending to make the target lustful to achieve the goal.
Even more evil ones require taking secretions from men and women. Some are used for the ritual, and some even require the person seeking harmony to find a way to make the other half drink it.
Various means are fancy and colorful, but mostly it is more about bluffing. Whether it works is not important; who can bluff better is more important. At the same time, many priests in Taiwan have become cunning. After their reputation is ruined locally, they go on TV shows, find accomplices, and specifically bluff people from the mainland to perform these rituals. They charge hundreds of thousands of dollars at a time. Of course, it usually doesn't work. Then, if it doesn't work, they find other excuses.
Thailand and Southeast Asia also have Katu (hexes). In the country, Thai Katu is currently the most hyped. Others include hyping up Buddha amulets, raising Guman Dai (child spirits), playing with corpse oil, etc. There are also so-called Thai Fox Immortals (actually the real name is Female Great Ghost, raising female ghosts), etc., all claiming to be able to achieve harmony.
As for whether it works, I just want to say: Thailand is not only a country that is very superstitious about magic, but its divorce rate is as high as 60 percent.
What should be done?
There are methods, but the cost is huge and fundamentally not worth it. Therefore, one should not pursue pre-marital harmony at all.
Based on my years of divination experience seeing countless examples of relationships, for those who ultimately achieve happy marriages, the best advice summarized is as follows:
Romantic relationships in life are a matter of mutual natural elimination. If you break up, it means the two of you were not suitable in the first place. You should consider adjusting your mood quickly, stepping out of the shadow, and then finding someone truly suitable for you.
Worldly affairs inevitably involve love, but you must distinguish: Dating is playing together, while marriage is living together. The two are different.
Do not treat dating as living together, and do not treat living together as dating.
In a person's life, the husband and wife rely on mutual trust, understanding, and support , so that the family can be happy. Marriage between men and women is a matter for two families, not just two individuals.
Since you are not suitable, you should let go quickly. This means your true destiny has not yet arrived.
If your true destiny arrives, you will marry, live together, and grow old together. Although you may not die on the same day, there will be a day when two names are on the tombstone.
After a person dies, even if one soul reincarnates, the other soul still enters the earth, accompanying each other for a long time.
Therefore, marriage is not just a matter of life, but also of death. The ancients regarded marriage as a major event in life and must be handled with caution.
Modern dating is easy, but this does not mean marriage should be taken lightly. On the contrary, it should be more cautious. If you are not suitable, do not be unwilling to let go; this is a demonic obstacle.
Some people, you may not love them much before marriage, but after marriage you will find your choice was so correct.
Some people, you love them to death, but after marriage you will only find that you have entered a hell.
This is because of natural principles. The purpose of knowing destiny is not to accept fate, but to seek good fortune and avoid disaster.
If you truly understand this, you will not be confused. The reason you are still confused is that you have not truly understood. You must slowly and seriously think and experience it.
