Five Talismans Calculation Method
Five Talismans, Heavenly Bureau, Earthly Office, Wind Lord, Thunder Duke, Rain Master, Wind Clouds, Tang Talisman, National Seal, Heavenly Pivot, Earthly Axis, Six Thieves: Starting from the day's heavenly stem at the position of Wu Fu, proceed through Heavenly Bureau and Earthly Office among the twelve palaces. Observe the direction the Wind Lord arrives at, which indicates wind; the direction the Rain Master arrives at, which indicates rain.
The position of Lu (prosperity) is the position of qi circulation, where heavenly stems and earthly branches of the five elements connect. Yang connects with yang, yin connects with yin.
· Wu Fu Direction: Suitable for deploying troops for great victory, displaying military prowess. If making requests and seeking plans, visiting superiors and taking office, meeting important persons, merchant transactions, construction and burial, relocation, marriage--all are highly auspicious. If troops are deployed from this direction, there will surely be favorable winds to assist, as if aided by heaven.
· Heavenly Bureau Direction: Suitable for submitting memorials and written petitions, presenting documents for interrogation. Any confidential matters transmitted from this direction are deceitful schemes and should be guarded against. They are attempting to capture our secrets and spy on our weaknesses. All is unfavorable. If encountering battle, it indicates weak strength.
· Earthly Office Direction: Suitable for burial and defending firmly, setting up ambushes and secret plans--auspicious. Not suitable for deploying troops or undertaking matters. If encountering battle, there will be false alarms and the three armies will worry and lose heart. If using the monthly general added to the correct time, and encountering Kui and Gang added, it indicates matters of killing people and mourning guests. Only if auspicious formations and Qimen arrive will things be somewhat satisfactory.
· Wind Lord Direction: Indicates anxiety and panic for departures and arrivals. If wind comes from this direction facing you, deploying troops results in great defeat. Undertaking matters brings false alarms, obscure losses of objects. If meeting auspicious formations and Qimen, destruction is avoided. If matters such as burial and construction occur, wind and rain are the response.
· Thunder Duke Direction: Indicates fear, deception, and thunder sounds, artillery, drums and horns as responses. Urgently defend firmly. Do not undertake anything. Plans fail, private schemes, strange dreams and worries.
· Rain Master Direction: Indicates cloudy rain. Suitable for digging wells and excavating rivers to obtain water. If deploying troops for battle, one will inevitably face the dangers of wading through beaches and rainstorms causing flooding. All matters are unsuitable; only sacrifices to the Dragon King, Rain Master, and other deities are beneficial.
· Wind Clouds Direction: Indicates dark and cloudy skies. Welcoming guests, the heart lacks certainty. If obtaining the Cloud Escape, there will be heavy fog. Suitable for secretly attacking camps and raiding fortifications; not suitable for deploying troops first. If messengers come from this direction, they must be false and deceitful. All matters are unsuitable.
· Tang Talisman Direction: Beneficial for deploying troops in battle. Troops achieve great victory, one can tenfold. Return singing triumphantly. If dispatching generals to defeat enemies, a hundred battles a hundred victories. Seeking plans and marriage, taking office and seeking fame, requesting visits and departures, construction and burial--all highly auspicious. If combined with Qimen, even more auspicious.
· National Seal Direction: Suitable for inheriting positions and receiving grace, deploying troops and forming arrays--great victory. The commanding general gains power, with joy of heavenly favor and purple edicts. All undertakings are auspicious. If combining with auspicious Qimen formations, even more auspicious.
· Heavenly Pivot Direction: Deploying troops in battle, chariots break and horses are injured. Even with elite troops, there will be great defeat. Those who violate this will have blood flow for a thousand li. Spears will turn backward ahead; roads will be blocked. Lost due to illness. All matters will not proceed. Everything is blocked.
· Earthly Axis Direction: Guard against ambushes and traps. Military marching requires caution. Must guard against troops and horses being unable to pass, straying from the correct path. All encounters result in non-encounters. Money and grain scatter and are lost. If combining with auspicious Qimen formations, one may barely avoid disaster. Only defending firmly is auspicious.
· Six Thieves Direction: Suitable for adding defense, fearing encounter with thieves. The direction from which fierce winds come is the direction of incoming thieves. If someone comes to surrender, it must be deceitful. Beneficial for showing grace and enticing their inner circle. If combining with auspicious Qimen formations, only then can matters proceed without incident. All matters are false and not true. All actions mostly indicate hidden losses and injuries.
